Well, here is the official Santa response to the center upgrade debacle.

While it seems the situation didn’t go down exactly as it was portrayed, there WAS the potential to pursue upgrades for 5 centers that the NEB “had no appetite for.” He also refused to explain why it was shot down, basically saying “the union has one voice.” No matter how you look at it, this is still extremely fucked up.

Yes the takeaway from all of this for everybody should be that you can’t trust any of these fucking scammers. When he finishes his video by saying “when we (the NEB) come out of a meeting, we’re all for one” but also saying he refuses to go over what was discussed is just further evidence of how corrupt this organization has become. There is obviously severe disfunction occurring and the workforce overwhelming disapproves of national leadership, but “we’re all on the same page” is the only talking point after a major development like this one.

This is a result of a much larger problem that went unaddressed for years, Paul and Trish. For 12 years they ran Union and bullied their way but they provided "direction," for good or bad for much of the membership. Much like several political systems, once the head is gone the rest will flounder and remain indecisive, unable to fill the void that has been left. They preached years and years of "raising" leaders but there is no one to lead except an outsider who understands the plight of the controllers. We are effectively, "tits up" in the name of "one voice."

I have spent years and a few elections trying to convince people that this was bound to happen. The NEB seemingly has no direction other than to protect the status quo because of this paralytic fear of screwing things up beyond repair and endangering their personal gains. Term limits must be approved, the NEB needs to be reminded that they work for us, people need to understand NATCA is not as powerful as they portray themselves to be. The membership HAS to decided what direction they want the Union to move forward with.

So I just got the Notice of Election & Election Rules and I'm curious about Section 3 - Nomination Acceptances:

D. The NEC (National Election Committee) shall determine whether each candidate has correctly submitted his/her nomination acceptance and whether the candidate possesses the necessary qualifications for the proposed office. The NEC shall prepare a report listing each candidate and the office for which he/she has accepted nomination. Each candidate shall be marked "qualified" or "disqualified" on the report, based on the findings of the NEC. If a candidate has been deemed "disqualified", the reason for disqualification shall be stated in the report. The report shall be signed by all five (5) members of the NEC and submitted to the NACTA National Executive Board.

Why do I get the feeling that NEC will screw over jdatc for not possessing the necessary qualifications?
