Facility Downgrades / Upgrades

I would say as far as Core 30s are concerned, Local Control at SFO is probably busiest because their operation don't allow for multiple LC positions. LGA and DCA are not too far behind for the same reason.

DEN is certainly busy but has the ability to staff LC1, LC2, LC3, and LC4.
Lmfao DEN has like 4 taxiways and the runways are 3 miles apart

Anyone know if the NVT posts a list? I know they had a meeting last month to go over a lot of facilities for upgrades and downgrades

How well connected does a facility need to be with NATCA to avoid downgrades? Looking at some of those (Not NY Metro) below the buffer for months, if not whole years but have thus far avoided downgrade.

It’s very situational. There could be construction going on that limits their operations, but are expected to return to normal ops once it’s complete, seasonal traffic, etc. As long as they can provide a solid enough reason to support not being downgraded, they usually postpone it. That’s what I’ve been told, at least.

Like ajmezz said, there are a lot of situational factors in play there. For one example, any facility that works a class bravo is subject to a totally different algorithm for upgrade/downgrade and the way their traffic numbers are applied gets really cushioned.
