Terminal Class pass rate

That's my class and yes, the list sucks. There are four of us from New England and zero spots east of Indiana... good times, good times.

You dont really* want Manch-vegas to be on there, do you? If you never expand your horizons you will not grow as a human. You can watch NESN in Omaha!

Any y'all forum wizards familiar with JAN Up/Down. Is it normally on the academy grad terminal list? Good facility? I'm curious because I'm around that neck of the woods.

You sure you aren’t referencing MLU?
JAN Jackson Mississippi. I'm assuming you are trying to be funny since MLU is on the list often and everyone whines and moans about it. *slow clap

Oh, MLU stands for Monroe. I see now. I'll just walk on out.

I have a buddy there, long training time, any specific info you're looking for?

It frequents the list more often than others i would say.

How does a facility like JAN have long training time? I couldn't imagine their OpSpecs nor operations to be very complicated. Does it have to do with instructors scheduling time for OJT or simply training fundamental phraseology? I am also not too familiar with the terminal environment.

I have no clue as to how exactly JAN does things... but to equate relative training times with traffic count or complexity is naive. Many facilities are broken for many different reasons. Sometimes its old crusty guys who refuse to train and/or when they do have a culture of washing out people who arent old boys. Sometimes people want to protect their OT so training suffers. Often management is incompetent and so training suffers. A very common thing is a hero complex within facilities where they refuse to certify anyone unless its basically the busiest ass kicking crazy session of the year, which is usually in July or August and so trainees wait and wait and wait on lower end of pay scale and suffer. This despite the training order stating otherwise. Lots of ppl refuse to accept that at the end of the day ATC is not rocket science (especially at smaller less complex facilities), and you don't have to be Albert Einstein to check out. This is probably discouraging to someone not in the agency, but there is no way to sugar coat the real world. Implying long training is synonymous with complexity is totally incorrect!

No, I appreciate it. News to me, but good to know nevertheless. It makes sense to me because I would assume they want CPC's to be able handle busy "scenarios" even if they hardly ever frequent a facility like JAN if at all.

its not always bad though. sometimes long training is just because a facility is super short staffed and its hard to get proper training, but the facility itself is otherwise great. Since the agency seems to mostly hire in gigantic waves it always seems to be feast or famine.

I have been studying up on Moline. Not only is there a sweet zoo full of monkeys, but John Deere HQ located there too. Its nestled on the mighty Mississippi, so fishing and boating opportunities exist. If you're smart move to the other side of the river to Iowa, to avoid Illinois draconian taxes. There is even an art gallery inside the airport with paintings of corn. You can't have it all though, MLI is not on the super fair and logical CIP list. Maybe I will put in an ERR for there and live a simpler quiet life. pick MLI, an all American City!

When I ERR'd to my current facility I started with a guy that came from DAY. No shit, he cpc'd, ERR'd and was at his second facility in under a year. Dude was still in probation.... training at his second facility...

Spill the beans bro. If we can have a whole thread about the chick working drunk on position at LAS then we can hear some shit about MDT. You work there? I was told there is a guy there that I use to work with back in 2010 and he's absolutely miserable to work around. Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch and bitch... Sounds like how I remember him from when we worked together.
I heard some controllers there have an H problem. Was told one guy didn’t show up to work, the sup went to his house and found him OD and dead. Apparently it’s a popular substance among controllers there..

Two from my academy class went to JAN in recent years and both certified in less than a year and a quarter. I think waiting on an academy date for RTF slows the process down.

Also back to the list, even though you'd be isolated obviously if you picked it, OMA is supposedly a really cool /upcoming city.
MIC is in Minneapolis which is a pretty highly desired location as well. Quick checkout time = quicker transfer time. Just have to deal with lvl 4 pay.

Pay your dues up front. I wouldn't mind.
