Yups. Previous 2 ATMs are no bueno. They just got a new one last month or so. Perfect time to put in a request, but keep in mind that it will take a while to get certified (3+ years).

Just never heard of an ATM. Be able to make requests in the current regime.

The morning of placement day, I went up to the placement office and requested HCF.
I just wanted to clarify a few things. Yes, I do know someone there, but they didn’t tell anyone at the facility I was requesting HCF. So that didn’t have an influence in the decision for my approval. I’m guessing it was probably because of the new ATM?

I’m guessing it’s because there was already an HCF spot in the top 250. Like everyone else that gets OCONUS

Anyone can request OCONUS. If it’s in the top 250 you get it. I assume if there a tie then it’ll go to who requested it first

HCF isn’t in the top 250. I don’t think I ever saw it at all in the Enroute placement list.
I just asked the lady if I could request Hawaii and told her I was from there. The lady told me to fill out the form and she said she will contact them and try to get it for me. Later in the afternoon, when she gave the class our list, she told me that she never got a response from them yet and will probably let me know by placement day Thursday.
After I passed my last eval on Wednesday afternoon, the class got an email from her stating my request for HCF was approved and it wouldn’t affect the remaining 5 slots on our list.
I don’t think your requested facility gets added onto the list so your classmates can’t choose it. I believe if you request it and get approved, you have to go there and can’t go back on your words.

They probably didn’t want you to have to invest too much money moving to the lower 48 knowing that you’ll likely be a casualty of a RIF in the near future anyways.

How does HCF work anyway? Center is its own area so if you go there from the academy you only work center style radar?
