After I heard about the Air Force and certain federal prison employees receiving these insane "retention bonuses" I did some digging and found out the OPM has official guidance on retention bonuses. I wasn't sure if this was common knowledge, it's news to me. It looks like we could potentially as a group of employees receive 10%, but in certain circumstances could get approval for up to 50%. I would certainly argue that we are in an unusual situation. Everyone knows someone or even multiple people that have resigned in the last few years in search of better opportunities.

I know Santa and the other candidates read these boards. If you want my vote, start talking about pay. I don't care about the federal cap - do everything you can do to find us more money. Retention bonuses, increase OT pay, increase differentials. You did it with OJTI pay, now do it with nights and weekends. Show us you actually care and are fighting for better conditions rather than just talking about it.

I certainly wont say no to a bonus but getting our base pay up is more important because all of our premiums and tsp and pension are based on that. Plus once we have a raise it stays forever (hopefully). But I’ll take a bonus too for sho

Bonus now to hold over till base pay increases through contract renegotiation would be a good start. Wonder if Whitaker is actually gonna put any action behind the rhetoric of being competitive with the private sector.
 
I want to get paid and I want to see these trainees get more $ than that horrendous AG pay they receive while in training. There’s no excuse nor should we indulge in some BS “hazing rite of passage” so CPCs can feel good about themselves while forgetting that these are actual people with legitimate families trying to make a living. You want better staffing? Hello people, these are your replacements. This is that staffing you want so badly.

Assuming they want to be in your building, embrace them, invest in them and mentor them.

AGs starting off in HCOL areas making 50ish thousand is inexcusable. They should not have to choose between living with 4 roommates or picking a location that’s somewhat decent in hopes that their car won’t be on cinder blocks; oh, and do it while training at a level 12…

Our bothers and sisters in Casper, Wyoming deserve more pay. Our brothers and sisters at A80 should be receiving CIP, those that fall under “rest of United States” locality pay scale should be completely reevaluated. This system we fall under is egregiously outdated. It’s time for change.

Since ballots don’t go out till June 3rd, I think I will be ok. Shoot, people don’t even have to accept their nominations till April 30th!

Might be a little bit till I come out swinging, no offense to the other campaign.

I have to go to bed but the 3 minutes I skimmed though it it is amazing. Keep it up calling out the bullshit, and if you do take any professional advice do it from someone who can help you make sure they don’t find a way to kick you off the ballot.
 
I am running for president because I feel like that the national executive board has forgotten and become too distant from the average controller.

I have transferred both before and after NCEPT, I have been on non voluntary overtime working 6 days a week, I have been part of an 804 realignment, and I have been an OJTI at ever facility along the way.

Fuck yes.

Santa knew pay is an important issue. He shoulda be working on it recently. Imagine if he made a video with the following message, "pay is lacking, we have been working with Congress/FAA and we have done XYZ". He easily would get re-elected. Only thing they have gotten is the ojti bump.

Ways to improve pay in the short term. The pool for CIP has been the same for a long time. Time to increase it from 30m to 100m. Change it to CPCIP (CPC incentive pay), so that only current CPC get it. And then give everyone a 2-3% to their current CIP level. And those that don't get CIP, they now get 2-3% CPCIP.

Make CIC 15% or 20%. Providing oversight is a management function!

OT should be 2x. Look what the union for border patrol gets them every year....

Google "CBP copra" for border patrol 2x OT.

Removing the pay cap is def important as that affects pension but in the short term they have to get creative to find ways to increase compensation. Many other agencies are forced to do this to attract and retain high level professionals like doctors and lawyers.

No.

I openly will admit my experience is limited. I have been secretary for my local, I did the ERAM and ATOPs subject matter expert roles when asked by my rep (who I truly respected back at ZNY), was the oceanic rep on the ‘Crystal Palace’ ZNY/N90 at one point, and the training Rep for my area.

However, I did rep someone recently in my region for a Weingarten meeting at my facility. So it’s interesting that Mick Devine was ok with someone who has never had any representational roles being allowed to do that.

From what I understand I probably am one of the few people to have done that in my region in quite a while. There is so much back story on that though it alone would require its own thread. It all worked out though.

So let’s be quite honest, I don’t have the representational experience the other candidates do. I’m not going deny that. I have participated as necessary to help out, but I never aspired for a bigger role.

That is until recently when I started seeing all the waste and abuse going on, and the fact that the people above us no longer fight for us. They are more concerned about what they get out their roles than what the do for us. It seems to be a national problem.

Secret Service is actively in pursuit of having OT count towards high 3. I know that’s not instant gratification as far as extra income now but I think a lot of people would be pleased with something like that being negotiated. At least make all the OT worth it in the long run.
You mean the last three years before retirement in most cases? Ya i still will
Be on the NO list.
Unless someone transferred to a lower level then high three may have been mid career.

I’m sure we’ll never be able to get accurate numbers but how many controllers get stuck at some low to mid level up down with no chance of getting to a high level facility, stuck working 60 hour weeks pulling close to 200k but can only count $110k towards high 3? Screwed by the system in more ways than one. High 3 should count for all hours worked. If you sacrificed your life to give the agency more than 2080, you should be able to benefit from working more than 2080.

Gatekeeping more income is craaaaazy just because someone wasn’t fortunate enough to get their high level dream facility like you.

One of the most desirable facilities has CIP. Entire system is a joke.
