DOT holiday time off

In the past didn’t the president declare Xmas eve a holiday or four hours of it? That could still happen right? Or is this not just ole petey, but the whole government getting to take off early?

Christmas eve is already an in lieu of day for everyone that has Saturday off so very unlikely we get an extra holiday

These extra 3-4 hours prior to a holiday have been given out for many of this years holidays. It’s in your .gov email. Supervisors know about it but don’t give it out cuz then it will be unfair for those who don’t get it. It’s coded as a form of admin leave.

Supervisors don’t give it out because they like to keep the CPC down…..

Yah but this year Christmas is on Saturday so all the office idiots already get the 25th. Then they made the actual holiday the 24th. So people that actually work get screwed

In lieu of days aren’t a new thing. It’s on their RDO so isn’t equitable to give us holiday pay on the day of or our in lieu of day and not give them anything. They get the day off, whereas we get double stamps no matter what day the actual holiday falls on.

For me, this was the real double edged sword with taking the Support Specialist position. No more holiday pay or differential to pad a paycheck here and there, but actually getting holidays and in lieu of days off have been really, really nice.

Most people with families and children would rather take the time off than the $, change my mind

No I’m saying that if Christmas was on a weekday the government would be more inclined to give the 24th and 25th as holidays as we’ve gotten the last several years. But since the 25th is a Saturday all the office workers aren’t working anyways so we only get the 1 holiday.

No chance of leaving 3 hours early here, how does the FAA process this? 3 hours of holiday pay?
It's usually for people that aren't qualified and just sitting around, or admin positions. It's very much the reason I left the military. All they ever did was punish the ones working hard with no history of shitbagging.

As is the standard, forever, as long as I've been in gov employment, or a fed contractor which at this point is well north of a decade.

Now this is something Natca should fight. Most of those office jobs wouldn't exist if it wasn't for us and all the deals we get.
Maybe we should just be receiving said time as comp/TOA.

If the office gets 3 hours and obviously the operation can’t support all of us walking out 3 hours early, why can’t they give it to us for a later date?

That would be fair.

Maybe a truly awesome leadership type of ATM would just put all the controllers he has in for Time Off Awards to make up for this each time that happened. That would truly be a manager to be respected. A Unicorn for sure.
