New academy track

You don’t think anyone tried for that? It’s not a novel idea.
Yes I do not think NATCA has asked for anything close to this in the last 20+ years. It's not a novel idea but our union is a complete joke

Hell even when there was a push for privatization, that Rinaldi was in board with, NATCA was selling us (the members) down the river so that Rinaldi would have a seat on the board of directors of the organization that would take over ATC. ALPA (one of the airline unions) were some of the only people to object to what was being offered and they did so pretty much solely on behalf of the controllers.

So to sum it up no it's not not a novel idea but no I have zero faith that NATCA even tried for it. Also I'm pretty sure there's other government employees that get higher OT rates so that just goes to show how fucking useless our union is.

You really think the agency just gave away their right to assign you overtime? Like it was nothing? You guys are delusional.
Once you wear out your knee pads I can get you a pair that has a NATCA logo on them so that Nick will respect you more

20 years ago congress imposed a 30.% pay cut and shitty work rules along with it. But keep being a non member thinking the agency will help you out lol

A11 is a 9 now. Interesting that Guam and San Juan are on this. Are they not on en route anymore?
Anyone hired to ZSU through this will be going to area 2, which is approach. It’s actually not a bad way to do it. Right now, everyone who comes here went through the enroute academy. If they go to Area 2, they have to go back to the academy for RTF and TSEW. This will alleviate that, I think.

I like this more than the 8's they were offering before. These facilities are the ones that need the staffing more than the tower only's.
Places like this ICT/A11/ABQ etc. I understand. A place like P80 with 97% projected and ERRs inbound along with how the tower class gets to pick now really is gonna have a whole generation stuck at every low level up/down. Guess they should’ve just been smarter and applied a couple years later.

I've been told and heard since day 1 that NATCA doesn't care about the mid-low level facilities. I have tried to ignore it and give NATCA benefit of doubt but it is getting harder and harder to do that anymore.

Having a robust training program at almsot every facility will help movement not hurt it. I’m sure there’s people at these places that want to move on up themselves

All these changes are putting undesirable low level up/downs in absolute purgatory. The only way to get academy grads is to drop below 80%. Once you get one grad the facility is above 80% but not above 85% to release. They are no longer required to send more trainees so the facility is just stuck not being able to release and not picking anyone up because no grad is voluntarily going to pick that facility.
