OJTI Premium Pay Temporary Increase

So did lab time not count for any premium previously? Cause lab time does not really add up to much but we lost 5% for OJTI

That's a win?
Maybe they give you 8 hours of premium if you are assigned to the labs for your shift? I didn’t read out at all. Just a guess.

It was 10%. Rich got it to 20% now it’s 25%. The way Nick is trying to phrase it is he got 15% instead of he got 5%. It’s still an increase so that’s good. The lab thing is new so he can get credit for that

Nick got us a raise, period. More money is coming, I’m sure.
Let's hope there's more to come. This is definitely a plus and hopefully stuff keeps trending like that.

But even when Rich got the 20% and touted it as a huge accomplishment and a raise it was ridiculous to do so because, even though it doubled the previous differential, it was a miniscule difference to every controller. So Nick and his fanboys can't be going around touting another 5% as anything big or a huge win. When Rich got the increase (to me) it definitely seemed like it was more of the FAA bringing the offer because they want training to increase staffing to a degree, so I don't see this as much of a win.

At the end of the day it is 100% trending in the right direction. And how much do people really expect for a differential pay cause 25% seems pretty reasonable 🤷‍♂️. But Nick has to come through on the big pay issues and I'm hoping he actually does.

Technically, if they didn't renegotiate anything it would have gone back down to what the CBA had us at (10%), so 25% definitely qualifies for a 15% bump.

I will also say that Rich DID lay the groundwork, so it wasn't "from scratch" and had resources to pull from. Both good.

Lol it would have been embarrassing if Nick couldn't get at least the 20% to continue. If he didn't at least do that he would be a laughing stick. So no he didn't get 15% he got 5% which is still a win. But no need to try and make it look like he got a huge increase to a small differential that not that many controllers actually see.

Again the OJTI differential has always seemed like something the FAA has wanted to encourage controllers to want to train. As little of a raise as it is, it has definitely made at least a handful of controllers at my facility fight for training time 🤷‍♂️. Regardless any pay increase is a positive but we can't lose track of the big picture with miniscule wins

After the news about the light blue and purple book, this is a slap in the face. The union just proved with those books that the slate book negotiations look bleak. They’re trying to tout this as a win when everyone falling under the other books was notified today that they’re screwed.

Time to leave the union! Get your forms ready to submit in January.

But when this was negotiated the other MOU was still in effect. The slate book currently gives us a 1.6% raise. If the next contract it changes to 1% is it okay if they say we got you a 1% raise because it would have been 0

Yes, it’s a shitty take, but it would be higher than nothing so it’s still a pay increase. A pay raise is something above inflation and we haven’t had one of those, in this career field, in a long time.

I need about 50% premium to be somewhat enthusiastic about training. 100% premium and I wouldn't bitch about it again. I'm so sick of training and the NTI is a huge waste at a lot of facilities; simply burning people's hours unnecessarily. It sucks being at a place that forces people to train. I will still teach to the best of my ability, but damn it's so draining.

We did finally get several new people through the OJTI class but somehow the same old people keep getting forced to train. Let these new guys get their feet wet more. Take a chance.

Caught that on the second read

I read it too fast but it was still written by someone on a different flavor of 'tism.
You read it too fast and then came here to post about it. I mean cmon man. It’s so dramatic here sometimes. People can’t even read things to comprehend it before posting about it incorrectly. It’s embarrassing
