7 of us passed so BUR, MDT, and BED are off , We also had 2 SJU added last minute. So far we have 3 planning on FAI, one for LCH, one for PIA, one deciding between SJU and RVS, and the last between all that is left.

How were the ones that didn’t make it up to Evals? Were they struggling? Or did nerves just get the best of em?
Anyone know when the next class starts evals?
How soon into the academy do you know the airport codes for that class?
I was in this class. I resigned the day before eval. I just hated ATC and didn’t want this for myself. I also didn’t want to be a contributing factor for someone losing points on the PE and not getting the job.
I believe 1 didn’t pass because of some RPO error which caused him to get a deal. Very unfortunate

If there's an RPO error on an eval, you can argue your points back. Had this happen to a classmate and he passed.
1 person let nerves get the best of them and then 2 of them made mistakes and it got away from them
Let's hope nobody from that class wanted to go back to Massachusetts...

I agree, an RPO makes an error and costs the trainee his job? Hard to believe that.
You finally figured out you didn’t like ATC Day before evals????????? Thanks for wasting a slot from the people that would die for this job.
One month or one day before eval - what difference does it make? Not like they can bring in another hire/replacement at any point during the program once you’re already there

If he just failed out of evals, it wouldn’t be any different. Though admittedly, maybe you should’ve done them for your classmates’ sakes. If you had passed, you could’ve at least taken the FAI grenade for someone to have a chance to go elsewhere - then quit. But life goes on.
I had one person in my terminal class resign after their first run. It made no sense to me. You've jumped through all the hoops and got to the finish line and just give up? At least if you fail then you can say you tried, or if you pass and then resign you can say you just didn't want it. But to resign before you know the outcome makes no sense to me.

I don’t remember if you are the same person or not but I feel like when I was reading through at some point you seemed enthusiastic about getting hired.. what changed? Instructors? Evaluators? OKC in general? Better job at home?(which I’ve heard of, people don’t want some level 5 in the middle of nowhere or someplace they can’t afford to live and would rather go back to what they were doing instead)
If an RPO makes an error shouldn’t the evaluators take the plane out of the problem? What probably happened was they thought the RPO made an error but didn’t and didn’t fix the resulting issue correctly and got points off for that and I don’t think they can argue with the evaluator for points back at that point.
Yeah there’s for sure no way to ever know what is going on in someone’s head in any case. I just straight up didn’t want it and I didn’t want to put someone’s chance of passing at jeopardy, I think I said that above. I had been wanting to resign since basics, but kept talking myself into staying. I’m sure no one in my class was surprised at all tbh
ATC is just far too much mental management of a large dynamic set of data. Didn’t like the idea of being continuously monitored on frequency with no margin for error. Also wasn’t a fan of the list and would have resigned if I got stuck with FAI. Didn’t like the mandatory 6 day work week and the low quality of life. I spoke with many of the instructors off the record and they’d tell me their crazy stories in the tower and I just didn’t see myself doing well under pressure. Just wasn’t for me.

Oh wow.. thank you for answering. I honestly admire the self-awareness and if I was going through now would probably feel similar. They do micromanage the crap out of you in the field and the frequency monitoring is real (not even making mistakes, they just decide you said something unprofessional or that they didn’t like and write you up for it).
Right, it took hours of self-reflection and emotional late nights crying….and it can be really hard to be honest with other people, but most of all yourself. You have to clear out the chatter from everyone else; it’s clutter. At the end of the day, you gotta do what’s best for you.
I’m thankful for the opportunity and glad I tried my best. I’m at peace with the outcome. And I’m very proud of all my classmates because they worked so hard and I know they’ll be great at their facilities.

We had a similar situation in my class. Classmate thought they would be able to cope with the reality of the shift work and all of the aspects that come with that, and that hopefully the academy would ignite some type of passion for the job. That didn't happen. He ultimately did not pass, but if he would have passed, he said he would've resigned instead of accepting his POL.
Exactly. You have to consider not only the job duties and the responsibility itself, but also the life when you’re “off the clock”.
