Terminal Class pass rate

Shit for real man! I guess I'm happy for the newbies but at the same time I'm salty as fuck knowing there are hella people still stuck at their first facility because it as the best of a bunch of shitty options and there is no sign for them to get out.
Yap, like Bandit117 said it best, “What’s the point of seniority when someone with 6 months in the agency gets to go to the place you have been trying to get to for a decade, only because the FAA made a dedicated effort to staff their facility and not yours. Sounds like a lawsuit tbh.” Sounds like a bit of a legal reach but it’s true!

This is why you don't go terminal. Enroute or bust. Even under the old placement rules, unless you got ZNY or ZOA you could still live and retire pretty damn comfortably. And even then someone at ZOA would do okay compared to the chump down the street at PAO. With the new lists you'd be a sucker to go enroute. Back when I went to the academy many years ago it was possible to request one or the other, so that's what everyone should be doing today.
Wow, what a brilliant idea. I can't believe nobody has tried to request one or the other since you were at the academy.

It’s not possible anymore. I called and asked to swap and my rep said no

Damn that sucks... Yearsss ago I was able to request enroute and chose IL or IN as my two states, praying for either ZAU or ZID, fortunately got ZAU which was right by where I grew up. Also knew several others at the time who grew up in the Chicago area and got sent to MDW, ORD/C90 (back when they did that) and of course ZAU.

Can you at the very least volunteer to do time at ZOA, ZNY, ZLA etc. even if you are assigned terminal?

That doesn’t exist anymore. You get what you’re given and must be happy to have a job at the end of your stupid sims.

The retards in charge of placement have made a change for the better for individuals going through the academy. Commend them but it’s still absolutely retarded. Like someone else said, they’re skipping the line. NATCA has had no response to this new placement program when their dues paying members have been stuck, rotting for years on end at their low level shitholes.

The new placement rules are good. I’m happy for new hires to be placed where they wish to be. This should eliminate lots of hardships and bullshit transfers. But when are the dues paying members going to get where they wish to be?

No, you can’t request any change in specialization placement. If you get assigned terminal then you are stuck with terminal. Only way to get to a center is NCEPT or the ZOA priority release

Not everybody gets to go where they want to be. That is just a hard fact of life in this industry. Not everyone can be happy but this is a start to hopefully things being better in the future.

I’m so torn about this new Cat D placement that it bothers me to the core. I’m happy for those who can go direct to a lvl 8 right out of the academy, I really am. But at the same time this shit is straight up unfair for those who’ve put in the time/effort to at least achieve an actual AOV certification which is also a slap in the face to prior exp new hires. Unless you certified at Eglin AFB RAPCON you aren’t getting anything above some shitty 7’s but some piss-ant that was hot shit in the academy sims gets a list of two dozen desirable 8’s…

I’m convinced the agency views training as a loss and wants to minimize training across the NAS by limiting movements, probably some kind of bullshit numbers game between HR and finance.

Yeah but by my count, there have only been like, 4 Lvl 8 placements. It isn’t common.

If it were up to the Agency, there would be Zero movement. If you don’t realize that yet, I don’t know what to say.

At the same time low level facilities skip the 8s straight to a level 12 so....yeah. 8s need bodies

I have 6 years of ATC experience and got offered a select list of lvl 7’s and below meanwhile fresh academy grads are getting 8’s and every 7 and have never worked live traffic before make it make sense…

It doesn't.
Expecting logic is disqualifying.
The person who graduated last place at the academy goes to a level 4 tower, gets checked out in a couple of months or whatever it is, then is qualified to ERR to a 12.

Trying to understand this, CAT B is mandatory selections and CAT C is for everyone else? With the top of the class selecting from CAT D?

Dealing with the NEST and trying to get an idea of would could possibly be available
