It depends on what you want. You will make more at TYS but they have a ton of trainees. FTW has a faster checkout time and more than likely you wont be fighting to training hours.

Like DL said, it’s really up to what your end game is. FTW will likely lead to a quicker check and bid out to other facilities.

I took my MMPI-2 at FTW. ATM there is a really nice guy, he gave me a tour of the tower after the exam and we had a pretty long conversation. Controllers there seemed pretty chill too.

I don’t remember his name, but I met him about a year ago when he came up to my old tower to cto a couple people. Super nice guy if it’s still the same one.

TYS or FTW though? Which one's better?

I agree with the other people. The Training program and success rate are getting better but you will be arriving in the middle of a trainee rush. We just got a previous experience hire and 2 people from the class before yours. We get 2 more previous experience in May. We have 4 training in tower right now so you will all be tripping over each other. Unless you have to take the mandatory spot I’d say skip TYS.

I'll be heading to the academy in two weeks. Best advice since you're asked fresh out of the academy as it gets haha?

Awesome and congrats to all that passed....I'll be at the academy in May, and would like to see everyone pass (military mentality in me). If you don't mind what's the best advice you have for my class going through and getting those same kind of numbers?

Control your nerves.

You'll hear it over and over but nerves are huge. By the time you get to PAs, you (should) have the head knowledge and enough runs under your belt to be beyond prepared. But the environment and pressure are so intense on PA week that knowledge doesn't guarantee passing. You have to be able to recover from mistakes and get a handle on your nerves before they sink you.

For my own curiosity I'd be interested to hear both. Really hoping for an Arizona, Colorado, or Southern California but not getting my hopes up
