This post is probably premature, but my Fiancé and I's wedding was planned for may of 2022 (week long in Hawaii) nothings been booked but she has already told everyone those dates etc. Currently waiting on a class date for the academy. I understand that I would be on a 1 year probationary period and don't know whether I am terminal or enroute yet, what stage of training I would be in yet, or if I will even pass the academy.

Trying to just get a feeler on the situation. Sh*t posting and honest opinions both welcomed, Thanks.

Yeah dude don’t do it. Imagine all the money you’ll save not having a week long destination wedding and on top of that a potential 6 figure income. Stay single, you can buy many high priced hookers or fast cars with that scratch. Academy passing rate is like 75%, checking out maybe 80%, but divorce rates are 50%. Stop tempting the odds my guy

Unless she makes significantly more money than you will as ATC don’t do it. Doctor money or better. Don’t settle for anything less.

If you’re at the academy, don’t do it. In training at your facility, you should have no issues getting the leave since you don’t have to bid against anyone until you certify. I took 3 weeks straight when I was a trainee to travel.

That depends. Some facilities bid trainees with cpcs. After certain positions you can be used as staffing meaning your leave cam be denied.

Thought about that as well depending on where I would be placed and if I would have to use any of it or not.

Just buy 1 piece of furniture while you are there.

all trainee leave at my facility is approved unless your in a class. But YMMV
 
I just want to say if you're planning a wedding for next May and don't have anything booked yet you better get your ass on it. Especially a place like hawaii where vendors will be limited. Covid re-bookings have had things booked way further in advance than usual.

No one is qualified to determine what does and does not constitute shopping for furniture. I also heard mattey22 's uncle's step-brother has been holding on to a houseplant for him there that he may need to go pick up in a year and 4 months.

That being said, I will forever and always also be team prenup. In the words of Wu-Tang Clan: protect ya neck. For some people it takes a couple spouses and decades before they find the right one and they themself end up being the person they're meant to be.

Have to appreciate the honesty of clearly outlining you can have one or the other, but not both. ?
 
Don’t use change of station leave to go to your own wedding under probation. That would require a special type of stupid.

Nobody will care what you bid in May. Even if you don’t have enough leave, you are allowed to burn all the annual leave you will accrue that year so you can have a negative balance...just make sure it’s 0 or above by the end of the year.
 
If your mgmt denies you leave for your own wedding, you got other problems to deal with. But yeah ditto to what "slim" said. If its while you're in OKC, I'd highly recommend you push it back if able
