Does ZBW not get the CIP that BOS and A90 get? It's close to the tracon in New Hampshire.

Nope, and the CIP that A90 gets is not for new controllers that report there, that CIP is only for controllers who moved up from Boston when the facility was split. not many controllers left at A90 that get CIP

Whats training like here now? Considering this facility from the academy and would love any info. From the west coast so this would be a very different scene for me, seems like a solid facility though.

I’m interested in ZBW. How’s the culture there? Management/union relationship?

What are the difficult areas?

Would be grateful to hear what people have to say.

I’m slated to arrive in March. My wife is teaching in Cambridge. Could I live there and commute or should I just get a small place in Nashua and go back into city on my days off? Thanks.

Not at ZBW, but from the area. That would be a tough commute, but doable. At least an hour, could be way more, depending on traffic. If your wife doesnt rely on a short public transit commute to get to work you could look at splitting the difference a bit and live in Burlington or Bedford, etc. I dont know your experience in ATC, but keep in mind that if you are working a Day/Mid, you will spend at LEAST 2 of your 8 hours driving between shifts, plus the 1.5 or more hour commute home with boston traffic after working all night.

You gotta do what you gotta do. There's people here that commute from Boston and even one from RI. Traffic isn't bad unless you hit rush hour traffic which will probably be twice a week once you start training on the floor. And honestly you hit most of the traffic once you're halfway to Boston. Finding a place to live in South Nashua isnt the easiest right now.
Idk what your situation is but if you guys can, maybe split the difference for the commute. Burlington, MA is the halfway point so anywhere between Reading to Cambridge might be a good place to look at.

Thank you. I commute about 40-45 to and about an hour from the center now. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t much worse than that.
