The 1 and None club - AKA the black holes in the System

The agency should realize that all the smart people who get sent to shitholes are going to find out how the system works and hardship out. That, or quit and get rehired etc. That sort of behavior is financially devastating to the taxpayers and it shouldn't be too hard to show the people in charge of NCEPT that this is the case.
Well, what did they expect when they shotgunned new hires across the system? That people would uproot, move across country to a place they had limited say or info on and then want to stay forever? That’s insane. I know of people from Long Island, prior exp, who attempted to get sent to n90 Around 2015. The faa wouldn’t let someone who is local to one of the hardest to staff places go there. Instead, in their infinite wisdom, they made them go to Texas first, certify, quit and then get rehired on the Direct n90 bid. Just a waste of time and resources.

too early to tell really. They started throwing money and bodies at us only a couple years ago but screwed up the training program initially and then the shutdown and then Covid. My areas first OTS class finished labs just Before Covid. Didn’t even get a chance to hit the floor yet. (2/4 for the first ots class in my area if anyone cares). But we have more trainees than you can shake a stick at currently.
Are you saying you can staff a facility if you actually hire people that live there?

I knew a girl that could get Oakland in the class ahead of me and then in my class 3 ppl got Mando to Oakland that wanted no part.

AMA has had no one leave from NCEPT. 3 hardships (2 trainees 1 CPC) one trainee just quit because he knew he wouldn't get out in the next 3 years. We finally got to release 1 in 2021 and it was the guy with the least experience. Around 10 of us have paperwork out for errs and supe jobs. Anything to avoid being stuck making 75k a year.

Second time going through the hiring process and would love to get SHV, GGG or MLU right off the bat. But I guess their hiring process has to be fair.

Yup. Happened to me. I asked if they could send me to one of the island facilities no one really wants to go to so I could take better care of a family member and they said no because my experience didn't translate lol. Got sent elsewhere.

The exception was when I was at the academy we had a Fairbanks AK slot, they were going to let anyone else, In addition, who wanted to have FAI if they really wanted It. If you want to swap what they assigned you for a harder to staff place that should be allowed, Bc for some people that’s home and they want to be there. The Utter inflexibility Of HR and placement has no real point other than “respect ma authoritah”

Is this the new spot? The other thread dead?
This one has data! More is coming, I’m adding in places people have gone to, so we can see who is letting go (or not) and who is gaining (or not)

That’s awful, and you’re not the only one in a place like that. This data is based on selections only, doesn’t show actual releases, declined offers, or things like swaps. I guess I could add in swaps, but I don’t recall seeing swaps between anywhere that was just barely able to let anyone go.

Except HR literally is only the messenger, the ATO makes the decisions on placement.

Whatever the office at OKC was that did placement. They wouldnt let people in the same class swap between regions (before evals) bc reasons, but then if anyone from any region wanted to go to FAI that was totally cool...

ARB hasn't lost anyone because its a hidden gem country club with amazing union leadership and the rare distinction of being a Michigan facility that was not raped by AZO! #BestJobintheWorld #SafetyWasNeverCompromised

We get a ton of people visiting my facility trying to ERR. Lots are from these shitholes with bad staffing. We have fantastic staffing. It's tough to watch people who want to work here so badly but will never get a shot in their entire career under the current system. We're even fat staffed with supervisors so even that's not an option for them

Ann Arbor doesn't have radar. There is literally nothing AZO could have taken from them. And Ann Arbor pre-covid was only open 8am-8pm so it pretty much is a country club... Except on U of M game day when they get busy.

So I have been working on compiling data that has yet to be centralized in a way that is useful with regards to NCEPT. We all hear rumors and hearsay, but I thought I would look into what are the real spots that suck people in. I've gone through all the panels and centralized how many people have been released from where. I am working on the places they have been released to, but this is a good start. I will release my .XLS when its done, but for now the data is sobering. Numbers all from the latest PPT on here. Some make sense, like no one really wants to leave SFB or MRI, those are sweet spots and you make good money with locality etc.

These are the places below a level 10/11/12 that have only released "1 or None". I left out the 15 x 10/11/12's that meet the same criteria because for most people that is a career goal. Overall there are 51 facilities that are in this "club" if you count all levels. If there are errors, they are mine alone. I am still QCing the data to make sure I got it right. Like for some reason I thought EVV and SHV had released people. I went through 17 panels, if there are more, let me know. I got all the panel info from the pdfs in resources section posted here.

Nobody has left SAT NCEPTwise, and I think your numbers for SAT are a bit off too.

It’s possible, but it’s also possible that there was a selection that was later declined. I don’t have access to who declined offers, just the selections

Doesn’t peur to Rico have 2 year bids with a bunch of incentives?
nope. we have about 30-40 developmentals all from the academy, most still sitting at home waiting to be recalled to start training. some who have been here coming up on 3 years.
I'm a newbie so I'm not familiar with the incentives. All I know is that you pay a ridiculously low tax rate if you live there for 180 days out of the year. What are they? ZSU (Puerto Rico) is the only center on the list.

Edit:
  • Tax-free interest and dividends earned after you become a resident.
  • No long-term capital gains tax on appreciation after you become a resident.
  • 5% tax on long-term capital gain for appreciation before you move for any sales during your first 10 years as a resident.
Those are some pretty insane benefits... but you have to live in Puerto Rico.

there are some strings attached to those benefits. Act 20/22. but in general, yeah, there are some nice tax breaks for people who want to play that game. income tax here sucks though. as does sales tax. want to ship a car here? expect to pay more for import fees than you paid in taxes when it was brand new...

TRI is an absolute dumpster fire. They've had 4 controllers quit just this year, one of whom is actually from the area, the other three had been there for 4+ years. I believe they've washed 6-7 trainees in the last 3 years also. Management/training/culture problem.
