Enroute Class pass rate

This is an unpopular opinion but ZOA is not that bad.

No one can argue that cost of living is high, there is a training backlog (nothing compared to ZNY), and it is hard to leave traditionally (you'll probably have to get your 52 weeks, quit and reapply).

On the other hand, the facility culture seems pretty good, Northern California has access to anything anyone would want to do and job opportunities are great if your partner has a career.

In my opinion, too many people buy into the facility rumors and the culture that California is falling apart. I need money as much as the next person but I don't have children and am young so I am prioritizing having a great fucking time and the Bay Area is a perfect place. If you want what is typically described as the "American dream" then it's probably a terrible place and I respect that too.
I lived in the bay area for 6 years. IMHO it is a shithole. Sure, the location is cool cause you are relatively close to the ocean, big city, forest, lakes, mountains, snow in the winter, good road racing courses(if you area car enthusiast). But all of that is masked with the ridiculous laws and regs CA has. I have been a CA resident most of my life. Currently live in San Diego.

Oh and btw, we have dealt with pretty intense shutdowns, so all of that fun stuff and nightlife scene and "prioritizing on having a great fucking time" is NOT gonna happen (well at least till C19 is over with). Oh and get familiar with the word hella. lol

Anyone have a class start date of 3/9?

Agree to disagree. California native and I have spent most of my adult life in the Bay Area. Not sure what laws and regulations you are referring to but maybe my hobbies aren’t restricted. Corona has affected the things you can do but I would be just as careful elsewhere.

Lets just say all of my hobbies the state of CA shits on. I guess your hobbies include staying at home and staring at a wall. ?

Tell that to the AGs who have been there since 2018 and haven’t started D-School yet.

That's the way it's going to be for a while. Training departments at centers have more to worry about than just getting the newest batch of trainees through D-school. That and there is a huge backlog of trainees everywhere now thanks to the academy still pumping out graduates.

My hobbies are fairly limited. I travel, hike, snowboard and play soccer. Northern California is great for all of these things. I have a 6 mile hike in fairly remote forests 20 minutes from my apartment, Tahoe has my favorite resorts in the country, there are plenty of recreational soccer leagues in the area and SFO gets me to most places I want to go internationally.

Neither. I'd wanted to go to Guam since before I started basics and ended up requesting it as soon as we got to the academy. Definitely a huge relief not having to worry about placement, even though our list ended up being pretty solid anyway.
You requested Guam as soon as you got there and they approved it?

Their evals are on 2/12 and 2/16 since 2/15 is a holiday.

My husband is in the class. I’m just the active one on here reading and learning as much as I can to be prepared for just about anything. We originally both applied to see what would happen and he got best qualified plus is a veteran. I’m still pending on usajobs from the Jan 2020 bid ?. I do have a completely different career in the tech industry and pretty happy there.

Will keep y’all updated unless someone gets to it before me ?

I (11 year CPC) also have family in this class. Super anxious for them.

I guess for those particular hobbies norcal isn't too bad. But honestly any area that has mountain ranges and snow can cater to your hobbies. I have been all over tahoe. There are some nice resorts there. I still prefer Mammoth. But that is just my opinion. And I hated commuting to SFO unless it was for red-eyes.

It wasn't the worst location, but it definitely wasn't optimal for me.

That should not be allowed, three days off between evals. I don’t even think they should do Friday - Monday evals. Too much time off between runs to get rusty and obsessively stress over it to the point where you don’t sleep all weekend and are then destined to underperform.

It’s better if you get in on a different bid cus once he’s in the union they can do spousal accommodation to get you to the same city.

You think you have to be in the union to make that happen? They can do it off the same class as well before either are even eligible to join Natca.
