Hardships

It still goes up. But be careful. My ATM “denied” mine and my hardship didn’t go through cause of her BS statement that she wrote. I guess being divorced and the kids being out of state doesn’t count and I have to be separated from them indefinitely ??‍♂️
Yeah, from what was explained to me either a doctor, judge, or psychologist has to say it's necessary in some form of official writing or judgement. They've gotten pretty hardcore about hardships lately.

Whats the routing for a hardship once it leaves your facility? It looks like your own ATM/FACREP, regional work group, then target facilites, ????, big HR for TOL/FOL?

Yeah, pretty much spot on. After it’s received at your region, it goes to the region you’re requesting, and then so on.

If the hardship makes it to fruition, remember that you decide which facility you go to, not the FAA’s decision.

Has anyone had a hardship approved during this pandemic? If so, what was your timeline? This is taking a lot longer than the timeline in A99.

Put one in around 3 weeks or so, ATM and FACREP were both on board with it, found out last week that it had been deemed bonafide and sent to requested facilities.

Other than facilities not having vacancies, any chance of it not getting approved at this point?

Once your region deems it was bona fide, its smooth sailing from there.

Anyone here have any insight on hardship due to mental health of a spouse? My wife has been suffering from severe anxiety and depression due to the move to my facility's location after academy and therapy is hardly making a dent. Any chance that documentation from mental health professional might be enough to validate a hardship in the eyes of the FAA?
I’m going through the same process now. How’s it going for you?

Submitted mine on Friday. It’s being reviewed at the local level. Hoping to hear back this week. I have no clue how long it takes from local level to director approval.

article 99 dictates recommended timelines

Section 4. - The Parties at the local level shall meet within fourteen (14) calendar days of submission of the hardship to accomplish the facility level review. ... they will make recommendations and forward an entire package to the Parties at the Service Area/AFSIAG level of the facility where the hardship request originated. This should normally be accomplished within seven (7) calendar days of making the determination.

Section 5. - Service Area/AFSIAG level shall review the employee's package and the recommendations made at the facility and make their own determination as to whether the hardship condition is bona fide. This review should normally occur within fourteen (14) calendar days of receiving the package. If they determine the hardship condition is bonafide, they shall, within seven (7) calendar days will forward the entire package to the Parties at the Service Area/AFSIAG level of the target facilities.

Section 6. - Parties at the Service Area/AFSIAG level of the target facilities shall review the employee's package and the determinations made at the facility and the originating Service Area. This review should normally occur within fourteen (14) calendar days after receiving the package. The requesting employee will then be informed by his/her Principal Facility Representative and the Air Traffic Manager jointly, as soon as possible after receiving the final determination.

Thank you for that! I’ve read that, but I know they can be quicker or slower than the allotted time given! I appreciate the quick feedback, though! You the real MVP!

3rd hardship attempt in 5 months. The 3rd one took 5 weeks at the regional level to finally be determined bona fide. The key word in the contract clearly being "should" in terms of how long each level should take.

So is local only ATM/ Facrep? Or ATM, Facrep and person above ATM? Then it goes to region?

Its a joint effort, if they both agree they write one letter, if they disagree they write separate letters from what I've seen
