2026 BWS

The rest rules do allow for a day mid. I already said this.

6-2. 12-8. Normal 8 hour shifts.
I guess if your facility had other coverage till 12 this could work. I really don’t had stand why NATCA caved on the 12 hour rule without getting anything

Easy 4-12 night shift. And that’s what’ll happen to folks if they decide to play games. The agency would love it

Forcing people to work 10 hours shifts or modified rattlers is playing games. There’s a reason you need to agree to it. A lot of places need those bodies there at 2 not 11

It’s not a modified rattler. You can work 6-2 and 12-8 under the new rest rules it you deny aws. I mean good luck with that shit. Nobody wins. Build a schedule that works for everyone. That’s a reps job. Coming on here with one liners thinking you are helping people, isn’t helping anyone.

It’s modified rattler or 10 hour shifts. There really isn’t much else. Straight mids I guess, but that’s a whole other bunch of nonsense that most people don’t want

Well there’s people who are trying to be forced into schedules they don’t want to do. That’s why they are bitching about being so tired this year.

I just want people to know what AWS is and that you don’t have to agree to it. Whatever you do with that information is up to
You.

You end up with something worse 9 times out of ten.

Classic attitude from the top trying to force the new people to eat a shit sandwich
Not even close. I’m not the top either. I’m just helping people to understand options

You just like to argue everything with me. Which is fine. But I’m trying to make sure people understand the outcome, because you are leading them down the wrong path

I want areas to speak up and not have something rammed down their throat that don’t collectively want to do. Most people are confused about AWS.
That’s why you have an area rep to negotiate what said area wants.you can’t make everyone happy. Impossible task. I’m willing to bet 99% of the nas is on aws

Not all the area reps are good. People need the knowledge to put their food down

I'm not certain this would be the case. Say the parties have already negotiated the BWS with a fatigue mitigation rattler where the first shift of the week is a nine-hour 1300-2200 or 1400-2300. Whatever is the normal end time for your facility, assuming that the midnighter on the fatigue rattler will come in for their mid around 2200.

If it gets down to the very last person and they say "no, I decline to work an AWS" then in order to still make a rattler work for them, their mid has to be a hard midnight, according to what you said.

Do you think the agency will go to the 1400-2200 person and tell them that actually their first shift is going to be a 1500 for the entire year in order to provide coverage until the low seniority hard mid person shows up? And then adjust everyone else's schedule too, to account for that missing 1300-1500 coverage that was planned when the BWS was negotiated?

I suppose they could do that, but I'm not sure. I want to make sure I'm understanding what you're saying here.

Or I guess they could force the non-AWS person to do a reverse rattler. If you started your week on a 2200-0600 would that allow for a "mid-night"?

Yea I think some of your options are the only solutions. Which isn’t better than the original shift most likely. The shifts need covered one way or another. And straight 8s with no flex probably are worse. Just my opinion.

Depends how the mou reads and the core and ancillary shifts are. It’s not an easy thing to blanket give answers for
