Enroute Class pass rate

But you get Christmas to puke all over the tracon for the entire month of Dec and you can walk the terminal and get covered packing!
Truth!! Christmas is bumping in there!! It’s awesome. I’m sure you saw our slightly aggressive Halloween decorations we had up this past fall 🤣🤣

I enjoy it overall, I just like to shit on the equipment every chance I get lol.

Y'all trippin. I went to the best staffed facility on my list which was ZMP at the time. Now I'm at my desired facility which is where I'm from. When choosing a place to go, don't look at just the city, but the staffing and your chances to get out. Of course if home is already well staffed, then you prolly won't be able to transfer. But now i'm on 6 day weeks but I'm not missing my kids growing up with their cousins and not missing out on all holidays with the family. Also, don't be afraid to switch facility type. If you're able to separate traffic and follow rules, it's just a different section of the .65. HenryTheAce knows whats up

This is almost everything that's wrong with the process in a nutshell.

🤣🤣🤣 who doesn't love multiple inflatable decorations in the operation? Oh wait... I can think of one super old timer that probably doesn't.

Super old is an understatement 🤣

Bruh, OSHA came in last year and made us pull down our Christmas lights!
What a bunch of *insert non politically correct word that we can’t say because it’s “offensive” to some*

My comment from another thread....

That was literally an Act of Congress. 49 USC 44506(f)(1)(C). (The general rule, at (f)(1)(B)(iii), is that they have to hire individuals "who apply under a vacancy announcement recruiting from all United States citizens.")

There's only one such metro statistical area in the entire US, and it's NYC. In order for the FAA to do local bids Congress would have to change the law.
I think they should, mind you, but there's your answer for the moment.
1.) Kudos to actually following through with the documentation. I learned something new.

2.) The most recent iteration was very apparently in response to the Bio-Q fiasco, which means that we have lobbied for changes like this in the recent past and could do it again.

3.) The rule is that you have to *recruit* from all US citizens. You can have vacancies for specific regions/facilities, there is no law against that. This is what I'm getting at. Open up local bids and the "hard to staff" facilities go away. As long as there are people waiting tables in Oakland/Queens I refuse to believe a local hiring bid wouldn't fix ZOA and ZNY.

Fair enough. They did used to hire based on two-state preference; the problem there is that people would game the system by applying to large states with lots of facilities just to have a better chance of getting into the agency sooner, even if they didn't have any desire to live in those states long-term. But making the bids facility-specific, especially in high COL areas, certainly seems like it would help prevent that... at least a little bit.

If a facility-specific bid gets even a few locals who want to stay forever, well, that's better than sending someone from Miami to ZMP and then the next week sending someone from St Paul to ZMA.

How exactly does Zsu and Guam get alternates and not actually trainees sent there? Do anyone actually pick those spots. Zsu has always been understaffed. Now they are, I believe, severely understaffed? I know a guy down there that has just given up and said this is just my new life I guess. The faa just sends people down there with no way out. The entirety of your career will be outside of the continental United States ladies and gents…..with no way out…..ever. Thank you sir may I have another.

I guarantee if you complain to the union they will say “but San Juan is so nice. Why do you want to leave?”

We are actively trying to avoid forcing people here. The idea behind that is that if someone CHOOSES to be here, they won’t be so quick to hardship out or quit. Yes, we are short staffed, but we have a ton of trainees so we aren’t in a huge rush to clog the pipeline again. COVID kinda screwed training when we got 12 trainees all at the same time who had gone through the academy in 2020/2021 but weren’t allowed in the building until later

I have always thought that a 5-7 year plan would allow people to see light at the end of the tunnel and step people up to another center. But that’s thinking logically I gotta cut that shit out

Just gotta accept that the facility you get out of the Academy is where you'll be for the long haul. NCEPT is broken. Everyone knows it. Best chances to transfer seem to be certify. Wait a year. Quit. Wait a year. Reapply to previous experience bid.

Is what it is.
