Their slot is never on the list. We had 11/16 pass. 1 girl was guaranteed ZTL (marriage) and another dude ZNY. We had 9 spots out of 14 to choose from. Their slot had nothing to do with our list.

Beginning in May of 2018, every slot became mandatory. If 13 students pass, there's 13 slots to choose from.
The spouse placements are nothing new, they've been happening for a few years now at least.

Indeed...I stand corrected....I checked with leads today and they did indeed change to what you describe.....just shows you how fast things change....but the spousal thing kind of caught me by surprise, been prowling the halls of the academy for years, and never heard that from a student...and then BAM.....2 students in the same week clued me in......its probably been happening, as you say, but it surprised a few of the Row instructors, just never hear it I guess

It's marked on the list. Also obvious when there's less slots than students. and one student doesn't care about placement.
Although I don't think a new student has much cause to hate. the CPCs who have been trying for years to get to a facility where new hires aren't assigned then have one get a golden ticket... Let the hate flow. ?

Our two week refresher after the shutdown was purely classroom - radar academics - no lab. Our list is 3 ZTL, 3 ZID, 3 ZSE, 2 ZOA, ZLA, ZJX, ZBW, and ZAU.

The enroute placement list will tell you exactly which facilities are going to be given to graduates. It changes frequently but it’s useful to see which are more common.

From what I’ve seen everyone wants the general area where they’re from. Most students don’t want Oakland or NY. Other than that it’s a toss up where they choose, or get defaulted with obviously

That’s a nice list, I’d be curious on the order... I’d bet ZOA went near last, and ZBW went near first....

It really depends who wants to go where. The class before the two ZBW were picked 2nd and 3rd to last while ZOA was picked 3rd.

Not everyone wants to live on the east coast. I personally would be all over that Seattle if that was my list. And after that ZLA
