Tower Ops Per CPC 2023

Reality is the agency doesn't respect this. Circumstances make it impossible for the employee to work it? Well you had 28+ days to change those circumstances that were on the published schedule. The health or efficiency of the employee may be impaired, or you are fatigued? Sounds like your medical may need to be looked at.
They can review it. Only having enough gas in the tank to work your standard 40 hours isn’t a reason to pull it. “Oh no, you can only work your regular schedule”. Not only that but if they tried to say you have to be able to handle more, you could hit them with a reasonable accommodation request. Make them tell you it’s unreasonable you can only work the standard federal 40 hour work week. You’d be getting paid at the end of that adventure.

Down here at Gillespie our target is 15 and there were murmurs of raising it to 18. We definitely think its wild y'all only got 11 up in Chino.

How's the OT? Also, what is your minimum CPC number to staff for the day?
You still at SEE? Couple questions if you don’t mind

Dang!!! Yeah my numbers are off too since we had 7 at some points and 8 at other times. We technically have 9 but have a medical DQ.. Nice job over there
Pretty bad the faa is so ass backwards a decently sought after facility like FFZ has staffing problems. I know about 5 people myself included that would love to be there too lol.
At least FFZ was able to get reduced hours so they could get healthy. I'm at a 24 hour facility with 11 controllers, spent most of this year with 10, might get to 13 by September/October. We have been told to suck it up.

Im at a contract facility and they don’t even tell us to suck it up it’s just expected to be short staffed for eternity 😂 the faa can’t hire people properly and will never get out of the current situation until they change that. Stop putting people so far away from where they want to be that they are willing to quit to get home and I feel like a lot of problems would be solved…

I think one of the things not taken into account is the hours a facility is open because a 24/7 facility with 100k ops is half as busy as a facility open 12 hours a day with 100k ops given they have the same number of CPCs.

tldr; the higher the number in the final column, the more ops every CPC did per hour their facility was open, the lower the number the number the less ops every CPC did per hour their facility was open

This is borderline autistic but stay with me. I took all the facilities in the Cleveland, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis districts (basically the entire Great Lakes region) and determined how many hours they were open for the year. I even took into account some oddball facilities that have different hours for different months or days of the week so it should be fairly accurate. If a facility was an up/down, I doubled the hours open so it would be on par with the tower only/TRACON only facilities (if you don’t think that’s fair then just ignore the up/downs). I then divided the total number of operations by the number of hours open to get the average number of ops per hours open (a more accurate representation of how busy a facility is than ops/year). I went through the priority placement tool for each month of 2023 and took the average off all the months for each facility for a more accurate representation of average CPCs for the entire year. I then took the ops/hour open number and divided it by the average CPC number to get a final number showing the average ops per hour open per CPC.

This doesn’t take account for 114s, parental leave, or any other things that hurt your staffing but don’t show up on the PPT.
I can tell you this data is kinda skewed because HUF is 24 hours but generally only talks to 1 or 2 aircraft on the mid maybe. But EVV is ranked higher because they don’t work mids… if anything they are tied on traffic. HUF has no multipliers and is about to be a 6 and EVV has a Charlie and still a MID level 5. I know if HUF went to the same hours as EVV they would still talk to more planes. Just in this comparison alone I would call bs on this calculation.
