UAW were on Strike for 6 weeks and....

I don’t even spend 25% of my time on break… if I spent 2 hours on break I’d be over joyed.

The average mortgage is 430K… that is average not even Cali or NYC cost. So easily 3,500 mortgage

Yeah, the level 5S are thinking … WTF I make 65k a year
I'm at a high locality 5 but topped out lol (was a level 6 years ago). Probably gross 155k this year with 200 hrs OT. Give me 10% raise and I'll rejoin natca lolol

Agree until they can make a significant change in working conditions or benefits I won’t be rejoining anytime soon.

I believe 82% of the active controllers walked out when the strike was called. The President gave us 3 days to return to work or be fired and I think about another 15-20% went back to work during that time. That means that about 60% of controllers stayed out. So with those that stayed and supervisors and military, the FAA was able to avoid a total shutdown. I'm doing this from memory so the percentages could be off but I think they are close. The labor movement was much stronger back then, you would never get anything close to that now.
Theoretically...

That's why "Blue Flu" would likely be far more effective in an ATC situation; it could play out similarly to how the UAW chose to implement its strike actions this past go-around.

If a random facility went zero for a day causing massive delays and ground stops, then another random facility went zero on another day causing more massive delays and ground stops, and then some random enroute sectors went zero another day and caused massive delays and reroutes and flow problems, you'd still only be looking at a couple dozen people using one day of sick leave whilst simultaneously inflicting billions of dollars of damage to the economy.

... theoretically, of course...

I would happily rejoin if they secured the bag as well as wouldn't impose any additional hurdles to rejoining.

I think most people will wait until 2025 but it’s coming then if no RAZSOON
Your guess is probably more accurate. If information about what they are going to try and do before the next contract negotiations get started and what’s going to be the goals in the next contract….if it’s 1.6 then I see many people bailing on NATCA,

Now that it has been brought to light that the whole 1.6% raises was to keep up with the GS scale, what is NATCA even needed for?
The contract is really a whole lot of procedural stuff on how to do things.
If they aren’t working on contracts to protect employees from being abused with overtime or making turns be 10 hours to improve fatigue issues, or increasing wages beyond basic GS payscales what are they really doing that is going to improve the lives on controllers from this point?

Wow thus was not my intent 5.x + 1.6 + coli adjustments mean we're just under 10%. We should be celebrating our union helping to keep our raises on par with other unionized workers

I agree we are on par with GS employees as stated by the NATCA president and Devine videos admitting as much.
Unless my math is wrong 5.2+1.6= 6.8 Beyond that with what ATC is doing to deliver on a daily basis has helped increased airline profits with efficiency all of that with an understaffed workforce. We can do better than that.

Bwahaha and free Covid leave! Until I see a list of the government employees fired because of Covid this is such a laughable “win” they all preach baby! Come on where all the preachers at????

The 1.6% comes after the 5.2%, so technically we get a 1.6% raise on that 5.2% as well (6.8832% total). Feel free to opt for the guac on your next trip to Chipotle. 😂
Someone on here recently said they met Danials and Jamal and Daniels in all seriousness and sincerity made that exact point, to illustrate that “the 1.6% raise is worth more then you are giving it credit for”.

If that is true I think the third party candidate from BOS will have a legitimate chance to win.

Yea they can go sit and spin on that 1.6. It usually amounts to a case of beer or 1/2 tank of gas. Not life changing by any means.

When you factor cumulative inflation from 2021 to 2023, less the 1.6% each year excluding the January raises, our raises has amounted to -12% net of inflation. I don't know about you guys, but I want raises where I can keep affording hookers.

They should explain to DEVs and CPC-IT's that they lose the 1.6% when they certify.
You know what's a bigger number than 1.6%? Losing millions of dollars in dues due to disgruntled controllers. Significant pay raises keep members somewhat content and they result in more dues for hookers and coke.

I like this explanation. I hope they bring it soon. If so they may bring back quite a few.
