They did not use the standard process for K90 due to the consolidation. Some people did not get selected. I'll leave it at that...

I don't want to rain on everyone's parade and have no tower experience so this is just a curiosity question, but what is the transition like from a level 5 tower to LAX? I have to imagine it's difficult...

LAX is one of the hardest towers in the country with a really high wash rate by comparison.

yes, I've worked at a 5 VFR tower that I felt is more difficult than other facilities I have been at, and have had multiple CTO's without ever washing out. It was a hyperbole, just saying 12 towers are much more difficult to work at that 5 towers.

I have a buddy at a 12 tower right now from a 5 tower. He says its apples and oranges, you really aren't doing the same work at all. That being said.... It isnt easy....

My brother got hired in 2007 and got sent straight to a level 12. The rules changed when I got hired so they sent me to a 5. Just because people are coming from lower levels (without prior washes) doesn't mean that they can't make it at a 12. And I don't think a 12 is going to be easy by aaaany means, but I also don't think it's going to be ANYTHING like a level 5 vfr tower. So we'll see! 🙂 Just hoping for a chance at a 12 at this point.

Well 500 times a day... cleared to land= 1 operation. Cleared for takeoff= 1 operation.

Also interested. I know there was no ranking list sent out for K90, so I am definitely curious as we have a guy trying to get there and we can only release one. If he gets selected.....I don't.....
