3rd Quarter 2017

I say this not to be a bearer of bad news but to tell you what you're up against. I90 was one of the crown jewels of this whole NCEPT process. For anyone who just looks on the PPT, the 61.8% success rate might be enough to turn them away. In actuality, they have a 90+% checkout rate and an incredible training program. This was the last panel they'll use the cumulative 12 TRACON averages. If you updated them to their correct % this panel they would've only been able to pick up 8. With them picking up 12 this panel, the window to get into I90 may have just shut.
And for anyone who just looks on a map, the 100% chance they'll be in Texas might be enough to turn them away.

Not sure about anyone else at a higher level, but I'm at a 12 and trying to get to a 9 that was actually picking up people this go round. In May we were slotted to pick up 7, by June it was 14+. I'm not sure about others, but our facility manning just seems to keep getting worse. We picked up 4 total people this round but had 14+ possible. And yes, we seem to be getting most people from 5 and 6s. And yes, the NEST rate seems to be higher than before (currently 3 or 4 in back waiting). That could do with the training program being changed as well, but who knows? Either way with the current system, at least at my facility, seems to be getting worse rather than better.

It seems as the manning gets better I'll have a 1 or 2 board chances to get out of here and then I'll be stuck for a few years again since there are a lot of others trying to leave. The prior way to ERR at least gave you hope even though it was a two year release date. I don't understand why the current way couldn't implement that. They'd have two years to plan for it! Anyways, thanks for listenin.

You must be at a large Tracon. Cuz the NCEPT fails the bigger tracons miserably. (Except I90 this round). There's no way that part of it lasts. It's unsustainable in its current form. And trust me there are certainly people out there that want to be there. But when all the core 30 towers get to pick first you get none of the candidates you're ATM actually wants.

Exactly the way it is going down. We were 50 something on the list with SEA who needed 0 sitting at 20 something.

Assuming you're talking to me. I was under the impression we couldn't swap if we weren't CAT 2 or above...

I also have family and own a house, so unless once the swap is approved means it's 100% happening, a swap is a bit risky.
Swaps are pretty useless under this process currently

Anyone know if the people selected at facilities that had multiple selections on the list are in order of manager ranking? Just curious.

No they're not I was told I was ranked in the top 5 and on the selection list it would put me in the bottom 5

Swaps are a little different. You must be within 5% of the national avg for AOB and projected. So you could be 5% below and still get a swap with a 1 yr release date. Where are you trying to go?

If you know someone who will swap, get paperwork in and hope for the best, while still ERRing. The way numbers jump when NCEPT meets, you may be surprised like we were. Our numbers showed only one release, but we got an additional person out on a swap this round.

That's bc swap isn't the same numbers as a release

Trying to get to AUS. My mom isn't doing so good (saving hardship as last resort).

Only problem I have with a swap is the person could back out up to the day before the report date (at least that's way it used to be). Without knowing this person on a personal level, with a family and house to sell, that's a bit risky.

Yea that's the crazy part about it. I'm trying to swap to a few facilities and afraid I may run into that also

So any chance you would work on selling your house now, and renting as a preparation if you can ever leave. I'm sorry to hear that your mother isn't doing well. Ive told people in this similar situation that I would have all options on the table trying to get where I needed to get when it comes to family. Swap, ERR, hardship, even sup bid if available.
