I did not talk to the NATCA panel reps. We both did put in for A80 and everyone is well aware but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
I would email them or call tomorrow. Contact info is on the 3rd quarter minutes. I don't believe in jumping the chain of command unless they are giving u bs...which it sounds like they are

Is the facility that called LAX or A80, if not, PM me your current facility.

Remember per RobertB, A80 will not be subject to Cat 1 or Cat 2 releases, you will still make their managers ranking list and have potential to be selected.
I thought he was saying that will be in effect next NCEPT not this one. Maybe I read it wrong. If the Cat 1 and 2 are irrelevant this panel for 8s and up, what do you think the release time frame will be if one of them are selected? It would be awesome if they allowed even 7s to release prior to the 1 yr max or at least advocate for a quick release

Nvm just went back and reread it. He said they are trying to apply it to this panel. If @cosoccer was getting called about then it makes it seem like something is in the works to make A80 a priority like C90/N90 but without the move money. That would solve a lot of their manning problems. I'm sure there are quite a few good controllers at 8-10s that can't release but have people who want A80

As far as A80...I talked with an RVP and they said they are in the process of making an A80 MOU. But that it wouldn't matter for this panel because they are still working on it. They will have to roll out a new MOU just like the N90/C90 has their own separate release MOU. And I haven't seen anything along those lines. I wouldn't get hopes up or worry about any of these level 8 cut off rules. It's probably just a rumor going around the facility and until it's on paper and disseminated to the members it's all talk.

I apologize for the false hope, went back and re-read RobertB's posts, 8 and above do not have to be a Cat 1 or Cat 2. 7's and below have to be Cat 1 or Cat 2
Yep! So hopefully after they get their level 8 and up controllers there will still be room for the sexy 7s. Considering they can get 41, unless the NCEPT says there training team can only handle say 20, I assume I still have a good shot.

I'm sure @Robertb can chime in, but I'd have to assume someone from Memphis TRACON has a 100% chance of getting A80 this panel.
We can release one. I've straw polled the facility and I think I'll be the one whose number gets called but idk if anyone else put in for A80 and if so, if they did so before I did.

If someone did, the date is not important. If only 1 person can be released, it goes by whoever A80 ranks higher. If you've networked and the other person hasn't, odds are in your favor.

He did mention they are given preference, but doesn't restrict lower level facilities. As this new rule came to place after the ERR deadline, this panel is your best shot to get there, who knows, maybe it'll all work out for you in the end.
I don't know if the A80/LAX MOU is being implemented for this panel. That was the intent of trying to speed up the agency and union signing it so we didn't have to wait another three months. I got off work at 0615 on Tuesday morning and I go back tomorrow (Thursday at 1330). I will try to find out what I can when I go back tomorrow afternoon. If the A80/LAX MOU is implemented this panel, I'd imagine the nine people with ERRs in for A80 currently from level 8s and higher would be offered A80. Then, the rest of group would be ranked and spots offered only to those that can be released. If the MOU isn't implemented this panel, the candidates would be ranked and only those available to be released, regardless of any facility level, would be offered spots.

If you have specific questions, feel free to ask me here or on a PM and I'll ask them when I get to work.

You had me until you mentioned the level 8 cut off rules. From what I've heard and seen, with my own eyes through email exchanges, the level 8 rule will be implemented with the A80/LAX MOU. This intent was to push it through this panel, but that was going to be a tight deadline. If it didn't get pushed through this panel (I'll have confirmation tomorrow on that), then people will be offered a spot based on current rules (eligible for release/not eligible for release). If it did get pushed through or for sure will be on the next panel (three months from now), then people with level 8 or higher experience/from level 8s or higher (I'll ask about that as that question was asked of me) would be offered spots, with priority releases, until A80 runs out of spots or out of level 8 and higher people to select. Then, assuming there are still spots to use up, the level 7s and lower would be selected based on manager ranking and who is available to be released.

I don't have any concrete info to share about the managers lists but i did see some of them and based on a small sample size the lists I saw were a little longer than past panels but not as long as I was expecting and they were also a little more competitive, on paper, than past panels but not quite as competitive as I was expecting.

Not saying you were wrong. It definitely makes sense to me, whether people like it or not. Just meant for people to not be placing a sure bet that all this was happening this panel.

This observation makes me even more intrigued. I'm sure other think the same. "Am I the more competitive one or the lower end?" Damn next week can't get here fast enough

Random: I did notice that there were HEF's that made lists and the updated 8/23 PPT has them at 0 possible losses so idk how to explain that.

Given that they're still holding the ranking list, it wouldn't surprise me if they updated the PPT again without posting.
On the latest SWB dated 8/30, HEF did get a check out to make them eligible.
Also, MDT updated their numbers and show 22 CPCs, maybe @cosoccer will have a chance.
