I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: striking (while obliviously effective) is not the only means to get a raise. The problem is, our union sends internal election campaign content to membership saying we’re underpaid and need a raise, but ‘in front of the cameras’ they don’t say a damn thing. They don’t tell congress we’re underpaid. They don’t tell the media we’re underpaid. Literally nothing has been done to pursue this, or even set the stage for the next contract negotiations. We are never going to get something we don’t ask for.Crazy what being able to strike gets you
I love that we can’t legally strike, yet congress essentially does this with every budget and continuing resolution. They don’t like what they see, they threaten to or do shutdown the government in retaliation.Crazy what being able to strike gets you
*and they continue collecting a paycheck while doing soI love that we can’t legally strike, yet congress essentially does this with every budget and continuing resolution. They don’t like what they see, they threaten to or do shutdown the government in retaliation.
“You are too big a piece on the board to be paid during the shutdown.”I love that we can’t legally strike, yet congress essentially does this with every budget and continuing resolution. They don’t like what they see, they threaten to or do shutdown the government in retaliation.
Obviously it won't happen... because f us... but for all the time NATCA puts into emails telling us they support every other union in their strikes and yada yada.... maybe those unions could be mutually supportive of us and take some kind of work action on our behalf to pressure the government to act.
You'd think the airline unions would have an active investment in ensuring our pay attracts the kind of talent that will keep their members safe in the skies.
brings an old expression to mind-I’ve got mine, pull up the ladderThat's what I have been thinking, we're awfully supportive of everyone else while being ignored, even by our own union.
I would very much expect those layoffs to disproportionately miss the unionized workforce that's actually assembling the planes they already have on backorder. Probably going to be a bloodbath for a lot of low level data entry type and mid-level white collar folks.Don't forget they're laying off 10% of the workforce...
Nobody forgot, but thanks?Don't forget they're laying off 10% of the workforce...
Case in point to my last comment, what is blatantly missing from NATCA’s post this morning commemorating “International Day of the Controller?”I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: striking (while obliviously effective) is not the only means to get a raise. I mean this just screams disconnect.Case in point to my last comment, what is blatantly missing from NATCA’s post this morning commemorating “International Day of the Controller?”

For whatever reason, they refuse to even mention our pay.
