Tldr is Whitaker is implementing new rest rules effective in 90 days.

10 hours minimum between shifts
12 hours minimum before mid shift

Big changes coming at 24 hour facilities.

Slapping a bandaid on a much bigger problem. One extra hour in between shifts isn’t going to do much, especially for the many facilities working mandatory 6 day work weeks and 10 hour shift. You want to improve fatigue? Fix the staffing crisis. Hire more, send them to low levels, let more people from low levels get to higher levels.

True but usually in the fall for the next calendar year. The first line in the MOU usually reads something about the MOU being effective for the entire upcoming calendar year.

I bet you'd have lines out the door for people signing up to work straight mids. Easiest traffic at 99% of the facilities in the nas and a pay raise with all the extra differentials.

They could change the leave/rest rules and give excused absence on the back end of your 4th shift. Use OT to fill the leave. 36 hour work weeks. Best option I can think of.

a 4 hour day 4 would be ideal. After that it’s gonna have to be like rotating straight shifts. Starting with a mid would be horrible

Worse yet, the 1900-0300 shift to accommodate the 0200. This thing may make fatigue mitigation WORSE.
