Hardships

Why so bitter? Who cares if someone hardships? The system isn’t broken because bullshit hardships are happening. Bullshit Hardships happen because the system is broken already
Bullshit hardships make the system worse and contribute to many facilities continuing to be black holes and/or ruin chances for many people once their facility gets to the numbers they need.

You’re right in some instances but I still think this is a symptom of a larger problem in that the FAAs plan for staffing facilities that you describe doesn’t work and never will.

What came first, the chicken or the egg?

If a doctor signs off on your paperwork that means he agrees with it, you would be hard pressed to find a doctor that would sign his name on a letter he didnt agree with. If anything its the FAA's fault for having a hardship process that needs some bullshit format, utilizing key words to pass through to the next step when they themselves lay out what is bonafide or not.

This is 100% true, I used to think people who scam hardships were the absolute scum of the Earth. I still think it’s a despicable act but I get why people do it as most legitimate avenues to transfer have been removed.

The FAA and NATCA are why hardship requests are up over 400% since the start of NCEPT and the hiring placement process. And since neither side is willing to act toward any meaningful reform, it is why hardships just keep increasing.

This is hilarious and so naive. All these bullshit hardships that we have seen and not one doctor has bent the truth to help someone out? Cmon.

No, the faa and natca are contributing factors to why hardships are up. But the employees are equal participants when they file bullshit hardships, aren’t realistic when it comes to staffing at the facility they want to leave, don’t work to help make changes and just complain, become shitty trainers cuz who gives a fuck and no one cares about them. To say that the uptick in hardships are not contributing to lack of success of the ncept is not realizing the entire picture.
How many of the black hole facilities are black holes just because of the faa and natca alone? None. I bet every single one of those has had a hardship a year at least, and it always happens just when they are about to hit the numbers they need which is the wrong number to begin with I many cases. I bet Not one of those employees has worked to change the staffing number before playing the game for themselves. All of this can be said about managers also. For every shit stain employee there is a bigger shit stain of manager.
I agree with you the ncept needs to change but also does the overwhelming bad attitude of people complaining they can’t get out. I’m sorry you cannot argue, given the correct staffing number that a facility should be left with a staff less than a certain percentage below that on purpose.
What sense does that make?

Why do you not just bid a management job? Lesson One: No one in the Agency/Union cares about you, period. You have to look out for yourself and your family. All those times you think you think you are “helping” the system or the agency by putting their needs first at the expense of yours or your family’s is nothing short of insanity. This is your life, you only get one go mate, neither the agency or the Union will give two shits if you stay at a black hole facility for years while a family member whittles away due to cancer and you lose irreplaceable time and memories. If that is the measure of your life I truly feel sorry for you. Good luck.

The chicken/egg was shit canning your entire workforce in the early 80s. It doesn’t matter which one you choose you end up here regardless.
Eh you can only blame that problem for so long. continually ignoring that problem for nearly 40 years is a different issue.

This is some company man bullshit like I've never seen.

BUEs have no say on literally anything you mentioned, yet it's thier fault the staffing (nationwide I might add) sucks, and the transfer process is forever frozen in what's probably a plurality of places via a process we have no say in.

Like GulfCharlie said.... gotta look out for number one, and use what tools you have to do so when your employer is never going to and your union is more concerned with other things than career progression or BUE happiness and life circumstances.

I don’t disagree with no one caring about you. That’s fact I just hate the people who complain in combination with making it harder for others along the way. If you know that coming in why make it worse for people who don’t wish to play the same game as you?
It’s not company bullshit

"Shut up and take what daddy FAA gives you in silence" is the definition of company bullshit when it's a widespread, fixable issue that's stopping a good portion of the workforce from having any kind of career mobility, are raising concerns and being ignored.

Man, trying to find middle ground sure is tough.

I agree with a lot of these posts but some of these bullshit allergy hardship ones are hard to swallow.

Sometimes the ‘take care of the elderly parents’ one too is just ripe with abuse.

Now medical care for a family member, that should never be denied.

On the other hand does that extend to my wife hates this shit-hole snow ridden state, I need to go to Florida?

However, I’d rather see someone ‘scam’ a hardship out then bid a manager job to get out.

At least then they are still helping the staffing somewhere.

I never said shut up, but I think many of the complaints are misplaced and also ruin it for a good portion of us for others things also.

edit: I’m also saying that complaining here and stating what you think are way different than rolling up your sleeves and making the best of it at your current facility. All too often the complainers don’t do shit but burn everything down they can without giving anyone else any hope for some positive change. Even if it’s incremental.

Im curious how long the hardship process is. I know it says they have to give you an answer “in 14 days”, but what about after it is approved. Do you have to report at your new facility in a matter of weeks or months? Who decides that? Thanks for any info.

it’s been mentioned before but it’s pretty quick. Expect to have a release date within a few weeks to a couple months after it’s all approved.

NATCA is blocking people getting supe jobs at places with terrible staffing, I agree with the rest

I’ve applied to 10 supervisor jobs the past two yrs. 1 interview for a facility that is in BFE and they never got back to me so I emailed them with no response. Supervisor bids might be worse than NCEPT lol. The one that interviewed me has another bid out now too like 8 months later from the last. What a joke of a process.

The pool of applicants must have improved.

You used to just have to have a pulse to get a supervisor job most places.
