Leaving NATCA outside January

I think law enforcement gets 1.7% retirement. Post office pays less for health insurance. Your CBP example was good.

I like our benefits I’m just saying that they are pretty standard compared to other shift work positons in the government.

Our health/life/dental is gov standard.

There is definitely not unlimited OT once your facility hits anywhere close to numbers.

All NATCA has bragged about lately is getting us baby leave which the whole government got. The slate book is good but you gotta keep trying to improve so I’m curious to know what improvements they are negotiating for us.
They will brag about the covid
Leave we got ya that. Reduced work schedules. It’s like who cares get me that hazard pay that IS in the contract and ill
Show up for work. They haven’t made any attempt in my opinion to improve things just collaborate and make it look like they are doing things.
Fixing the contract for pronouns! Real productive things lol

6 figs annually, OT being given out like a blank check, and not falling under GS pay scale. I'd genuinely like to hear your examples though, I know CBP gets double time for OT and 50% for working Sunday's, i'd definitely be interested in that.

Seriously, they get that? How the hell did CBP get those perks? I mean they deserve it.
And natca just extends our contract? LoL

All good points. Weird about the ot, I was just shy of 300 hrs of ot last year, on the no list with similar staffing as most other 10+ tracon/centers.

I’m curious to know if there are any facilities (or have been any facilities in the last 30 years) that are 0% NATCA. What would happen if there was managerial overreach but no local representation? Like if supes decided they were going to start leaving scabs on position for 2.5 hours what would happen? Would RVPs have to start becoming defacto FacReps?

Should get somewhere like ROW to try it. Have them all leave NATCA and see what happens

I believe (but could be wrong) that your facility then gets represented by outside NATCA leadership. Another facrep or something. You always have a rep somewhere, union or not afaik.

Yah once your meeting your area numbers every single day the only OT you can get is when like 3 people bang on the same shift and they start calling for closers. And if no one takes that they extend someone for 2 hours.

That sounds about right. My facrep had to temporarily represent a facility because no one wanted to step up as president. And that was a 100% facility. I can’t imagine bargaining a 0% facility’s BWS while also having to do your own. Probably just agree to anything management wants that doesn’t violate the contract

This is all facility dependent. There is no real OT budget restrictions. They obviously try and hit the “budget” but every facility can cover shifts. They just like to think it comes out of their pocket. Proof is that because management is known for saying there is no money for it, I’ll call it in when on the mid or the desk without approval and they always seem to get paid…

N90 on 50 years of 6 day work weeks. My facility has been on them for two years. No listers are scheduled every time.

And their calling in OT when they are above the agreed staffing numbers in web schedules? That just seems odd.

ZMP? I remember those days! Life was good. Thought I was all big and bad ending the year with 28hrs of OT….. then came to my current facility and get 300+ ???

That’s what I thought. But there was never a fear of washing? Reason I ask, is I’m coming from a center with similar traffic flow as you had to a tracon soon.
I mean there was always that concern starting out but once you start training on your first position you’ll either start to get the hang of TRACON or not and know pretty early on. Center and TRACON are both their own different beasts/animals.

STARs blows but honestly you really don’t need to use it much like you did center. You’re constantly typing on center as you know.. besides Satellite sectors, you’re never really typing or using strips (at least at D21)…. sure you may need to reach out to data and have them amend an altitude or get you a strip on an overflight to see where they’re going (yes you’ll have no idea where over flights are going without a strip lol) but it’s not so bad. STARs is just absolutely archaic and barbaric lol compared to ERAM.

Imagine if you went from an ARTS II to ERAM. It’s like moving 200 years into the future. And ERAM is outdated too
