2024 NATCA President Election

The point was Natca was like we saved all your jobs even when there were zero federal layoffs. So it was funny. Kind of like when they bragged about PPL. Starting to see a theme here.
They bragged about PPL because if it wasn’t for the union then we would’ve never been retroactively included.

They meant to not include us on purpose. Natca found out and then got us included. If there was no Natca we still wouldn’t be included. Not hard to understand

Each election the outsider candidate garners more and more votes. The sad part is by the time one might get elected, we will be so far down the rabbit hole...
We really need some rules about being off the boards for your whole career. But passing an amendment like that is even harder than electing an outsider. We couldn’t even get an amendment to vote on extensions.

Retroactively? My daughter was born just before we got PPL and I didn't get shit.

Natca found out? They said we got it when it first came out. Then was like oh actually hang on. We weren’t left out on purpose it was a mistake.

This is quite a spin.

Like "Austin controller declared hero after bringing ASDE-X to the facility."

I’m not sure they got screwed over. They got paid to sit at home and have a second job if they wanted. NAVCANADA laid all their devs off. So comparably they had it really good.
Oh just losing out on tens of thousands of dollars in retirement contributions, raises, reduced staffing because of those training delays, and being stuck for the foreseeable future. Not screwed over at all.

But go ahead keep telling us to be happy we didn’t get fired likes it’s some union win when no government employee anywhere in the US was fired. The union strongly supported the very thing that tanked our staffing to where it is today.

Just be happy your 1.6% raises carry over to the next band...oh wait

You can tell how rigged it is when our only hope is stealing the neb.
To me it is not stealing, it is the simple logic that term limits would solve several problems:

-Not only on the President and EVP, but it would prevent any single individual from gaining too much power over time, promoting a better process and higher engagement from the members where power is regularly redistributed.

-The opportunities for long-term corruption (there is a great video from Biden in the 70's when he first started that drives this point home) and unethical behavior would be minimized, as officials know their time in office is finite and again we would not be stuck in the same Rinaldi rerun.

-A rotation every 8 years (4 year terms to be precise) would bring fresh ideas and perspectives, which will logically innovative policies and solutions for some key issues such as the opening of the contract / extending. The leaders today have no real idea what a toll the job takes on the average controller.

-Leadership, with clear understanding, now knowing their tenure is limited, would be more willing to making a positive impact and so as to leave a better legacy than the one before them, thus the motivation to better succeed .

-This would also make our national officers accountable to their constituents, because they would have to go back to the boards with the average controller and face / live with the consequences of their actions.

-Incumbents (as we see with Rinaldi and his protege Nick) often have significant advantages over challengers, such as name recognition, campaign finance access, and established political connections. This would better level the field making elections more competitive and encourage more people to throw their hat in the ring.

-And last but not least, the elimination of campaign donations. Circling back to the corruption, an elimination of all campaign donations would better serve the membership because if candidates wish to run, it would have to be on their own dime thus not allowing "outside" interference.

Sorry long list here, but I feel very strongly about this.

I didn’t say be happy about it. People were actively doing anything they could to get out of work constantly during covid. No one knew what was going on. There was no playbook. Most of you all were getting 5 covid jabs to be “safe” and bullying other people to go along with it . Don’t come at me about the Covid shit

Just think about how nick can travel wherever all year and JD is at work vectoring.

It would also forcibly remove experienced leadership. Which is probably the reason why it’s never passed. But if they knew they were done after X years they’d have to be grooming a replacement. Probably a good thing. But the mob would also just bitch about the chosen prince.

If they don’t make a positive impact they should get voted out.

Doesn’t the election do this?

If Nick is Rinaldis protege why did they let Rich rule unopposed? Also this list of advantages also kind of sounds like “experience”. Something that this website is strangely numb to but its a real thing with real implications.
-And last but not least, the elimination of campaign donations. Circling back to the corruption, an elimination of all campaign donations would better serve the membership because if candidates wish to run, it would have to be on their own dime thus not allowing "outside" interference.
This one’s completely absurd. Donations are voluntary. You’re just advocating for virtual campaigning. Just garbage propaganda videos and curated questions. Accountability is achieved face to face. Anyone can bullshit on a camera.
