A80

The NCEPT panel ultimately chooses. At the local level Natca/ATM collaborate to rank the ATM list. At least that's how it's been up until recently. We just got a new permanent ATM finally so that may change as far as collaboration goes.

It's always better to visit in person and talk to Facrep/ATM and tour the facility afterwards.
You said y’all are accepting tours? Is that across the nas now or what

A few questions,

1) Whats the current morale here? I hear for the busyness of the facility people get along for the most part but not sure if that has changed?

2) How much OT do controllers here work? If you're on the involuntary list are you still getting OT all year round? How does management feel about you calling in to get a 2 day weekend and does that happen often?

3) Why doesnt A80 get CIP? it seems like they should due to the low staffing

4) How do you feel staffing will be in the years to come? Better, worse, or about the same?

Just a few things im curious about

#1 - Morale isn't great.. but we get along just fine.

#2 - All the OT and going to get worse for non vols. They don't care if you bang in on OTs.

#3 - Good question we've been asking for years.

#4 - Terrible because we aren't getting enough trainees.

Apparently there may be a new priority release MOU in the works from us bitching non-stop about the staffing. Similar to the last one but with a few key differences. ATM has supposedly submitted something to his higher ups but no one really knows. Guess we'll see.

Chances of making it here coming from a level 8 or below is very slim.

With all that said, it's still a great place to work.

Do you have a lot of level 9+ putting in or just don’t like 8 and below?

When they released the last priority release did you see staffing jump up significantly? Do you know what might be different about this one vs previous bids?

What would you say the success rate is for trainees from above level 8 facilities?

A80 should put out a job bid for lateral ATC 12 transfers only. We are the busiest and the best in the National Airspace System (NAS). If you haven't worked that level of traffic it's not even worth walking in the door. Phoenix, Vegas, etc.

Meh. Those rankings are trash because the consolidated TRACON’s aren’t working all that traffic through one area. PCT is #4 and we’ve got 4 areas spreading that traffic around.
Some sectors are ball busters but there’s an entire area (looking at you, JRV) that would be a level 8 on their own.
ATL is the busiest airport in the world for passenger and aircraft counts.
That’s a hard stat to piss on.

So pretty much if you aren't from C90, D10, D01, A80, you wont make it. Got it.

From the past few panels I can remember we haven't had any level 9 or above apply until this Feb panel.

Yes the staffing increased a significant amount. We actually released one controller on a regular ERR for the first time in over a decade probably.

We've been told they may try to do similar to C90/N90 MOU and select level 8's and above and we meter how they come in. Not like last time where they blasted 60+ trainees in at once basically.

Below level 8 is like 30% success rate, if that. Above level 8 maybe 60%. We've had plenty of level 11/12 wash outs too.

Staffing must be hurting real bad real bad if that's the case. Saw a few 8's and below get selected there
We are getting low level recently because that's all that puts in to come here and they can release over the mid level facilities.
