Wait until you have 18 or 20 years of Federal service under your belt and see how you feel about working to change/improve the system. Fed.gov and all of its agencies are behemoths of bureaucracy. Even those select few with pure and noble ideals who become management in an effort to change it can't succeed. They are met with threats and intimidation, quickly succumbing to the pressure, acquiescing and being welcomed into the machine. This machine tells them what to dream, not to dream for themselves or others. Unfortunately, no one can be told how it is. You'll have to see it for yourself.
Unfortunately this is 100% true, and then the people who are truly talented and motivated get frustrated and leave government service the first day they are eligible for a pension or partial pension and go make huge money and waves in the private sector or as contractors. So 99% of the time when you see in a resume or bio "25+ years of federal service" it means that person sucks, and the more years the bigger they suck typically, just look at Dr. Fauci.
If you don't work to improve the system you're part of the problem, not the solution. That's a poor mentality.
Seems to be true from what I've seen in this thread alone. Too bad I'll squeak until people can't stand it. And guess what? I won't get banned because FightingIrish2012 and PushingTin haven't been banned either!
Year and a half ?Man, I had it good then. Only waited 3 years...
Should I change the donate button to “pac contribution”?cuz we max out our PAC duh

Where is the “I want to know more” button?
They only do TRBs through video conference for now. Though I suppose this could still apply it would just be on Zoom.
For the record, I think it’s ridiculous that people find joy in yelling at new folks.Ya’ll are savages. Give these newbies a break . . . Most of them have not worked for the government or even applied for a government job. Having come from the corporate world the difference is night and day. I don’t think I have ever paid for any travel or expenses related to interviewing nor would I expect to in the “real world”. Maybe that makes me entitled but I’d argue otherwise as companies need to do this to attract competitive candidates in the open market. The FAA is a different story as the standards seem pretty low to make it to the academy and we are treated so.
I agree there’s no need to go after anybody just for being new, but if they wanna say really dumb shit like they should be getting compensation to take the ATSA, or complaining that they may have to drive more than 30 mins, they should expect some lighthearted ribbing. If these guys walked into a facility and sat down with a trainer with that type entitlement/whiny behavior, they’d get a whole lot more than a snarky comment. For the record, I think it’s ridiculous that people find joy in yelling at new folks.
But in my time in the private sector, I’ve never been paid to drive to an interview. And the government DOES pay for the ATSA, drug tests, medical exams, and whatever else is involved in the normal hiring process.
I take your point about the ribbing; I might have my too-serious goggles onI agree there’s no need to go after anybody just for being new, but if they wanna say really dumb shit like they should be getting compensation to take the ATSA, or complaining that they may have to drive more than 30 mins, they should expect some lighthearted ribbing. seeds plant shade later plsI don't have a problem with new folks. I have a problem with new folks that want to tell you that the system is broken when they don't even understand how it presently works, don't even understand how you move within the pay scales but then tell you to plant some seeds for them so they can enjoy the shade. Stay right there, let me just go grab some of my COVID haul of TP so I can wipe their ass too.
