Is NCEPT still doing a run for A80 and LAX right before the normal selections?
For them it doesn't technically matter when the selections are made as they're not bound by the National Release Policy anymore. It's interesting that in the course of 3 months, they went from borderline guaranteed selection facilities to the two most competitive facilities in the country.

Right, but if I put in for A80 it doesn't matter for me on when the A80/LAX selections happen since I'm going no matter what....but it would matter for other people in my facility if I get selected and now the staffing doesn't permit another release after me.

Guaranteed releases will do that. I am sure the are holding the LAX/A80 panels before so facilities don’t lose more than they would if held after the normal NCEPT. I’m sure we would prefer it the other way around but this way makes more sense.

Your giving them way to much credit!!

Posted this in the chat too, and sorry if it's been asked before, but how much weight do the managers lists hold? Does the NCEPT board go straight down the list that managers turn in or not?

If a facility can only select 3 and they have 5 applicants they go with the managers list. If the facility can select 6 and only 5 apply then they select all who applied. The managers list is only used if they have more applicants than selections.

Right, I get that, but do they ever skip over candidates on the managers list if they think a candidate behind them is more qualified?

They go with the managers ranking. The atm and/or the facrep vet each err and that’s how they come up with a list of who is number one and so on.

The official answer is no. They go right down the list with 0 discretion. But there have been a few instances that on the surface appeared confusing or unexplainable.
The ranking list is the only input recieving facilities have under NCEPT and it's way less effective input than what they had under the old system. Unless they're drafting in the top 10 then it's a similar level of input as the old system. But I think they're trying to atleast maintain some level of control for the recieving facilities.
