Technically, it’s 45 minutes south of Atlanta. The weather is nice, the cost of living is cheap, you work lots of airplanes, et cetera. Few places are better, if you’re willing to put in the effort to work hard. We don’t have that Houston Locality or Chicago CIP, but it isn’t bad.
Yah if you consider sweltering heat and no mountains nice.
 
I’ll say this about VFR towers at centers. I don’t hold anything against them. They got sent where they got sent. And most of us at the center started fresh. All of them struggle. The ones that realize this is an entirely different thing make progress. But we also get the few that think they are impressing someone by saying they are a CPC from ABC and they just keep talking about their war stories as if anyone cares.
 
Fuck this shit. Level 4 and 5 vfr tower people, who got in the agency 6 months ago, to 12 tracons. Mid level facilities can't release anyone, and the fucks won't give us anyone either. How the fuck am i suppose to train people so I can leave, if you wont fucking give us a body to train. We cant even keep up with retirements with the trainees we have.

I’ve been trying to get to a mid level facility from my level 6 and I always get passed up because the level 12s people put in for are higher priority.
 
Why not hate both?!? So many people fail out of places, drop to a lower facility, and then live the ‘Mercian dream and get that level 12 pay while they sit around for four years and don’t certify. Just live one pandemic to the next!

I’ve been told I was ranked top and “what a weird outcome!”, but the NCEPT Union rep told me the actual story and where I was ranked. Lying ATMs/FacReps man. I don’t understand what is so hard with just saying “We’ll keep you in mind as we look through the applicants”.
Oh I’m sure this happens quite often.
 
Facilities don't rank ERRs if they don't have a selection.
This is contrary to what 2 different ATMs and a FacRep have told me. I’m a noob to this NCEPT stuff so everything is new. However, the facility that I was ranked 1 at received a list of 14 people and they didn’t receive a selection, verified by their omission in the NCEPT selection list. What do I know ??‍♂️

You don't keep your 12 pay if you wash
Yeah, but you can go from a D1 (say $72K) or D2 (say $94K) down to a low level, save pay and then get half on the go, to a 12 (say base of $140K). You wash out of ZTL at a D2 and get sent to say CHS where you certify making the same amount of money. Then, you get picked up at A80 and you make $120K while training. You’re making more than CPCs at Salt Lake TRACON (a level 10)! How’s that a good system for a training failure to be able to move back up so quickly when others are STUCK at their facilities due to staffing?

It's not. Which is why it's a massive advantage to get hired enroute and another reason why you retards shouldn't be shitting on low level controllers that were mandated to report to freaking Bismark. Maybe Bismark guy blows. Maybe he doesn't. Maybe he should have to cut his teeth at S56 before he gets A80. Maybe nobody from your preferred farm system is bidding A80.

Maybe people are bidding here, but can’t get released due to NCEPT rules so we are getting low level transfers. It doesn’t make it right. There NEEDS to be a 4 level cap It would strengthen the mid levels and allow those people to move up.
