What if I told you that wouldn’t matter? The agency does not want to spend money advertising in every damn city and state because they currently have 30k applications every bid full of people who say they are willing to go anywhere then bitch and complain when they don’t know what that means
Advertise and spend minimal money or watch people they’ve thrown 100k into from training walk away from the career because they want to get back home…..seems like a easy decision to me

They have the data. If it financially made sense they would. Cheaper to let the few walk away after their training investment.

the FAA always plays the money game. Think they don’t want overtime, think again. Cheaper to pay you the OT rate then to hire and train a body.

plus as a result of the extra work, your life gets cut shorter. Less pension benefits.

the agency plays the long game sometimes.

You think they make decisions based on data?

My thing is there’s already 32k applicants around the country. Hire from where people are needed and send them there. People are a lot less likely to bitch about literally being back at home making 80-150k a yr 🤷🏻‍♂️ Costs 0 extra dollars to sort applications so why not just do it.

As for everything else you said I agree completely. The agency and government don’t care about the employees that’s why NATCA has our back 😂

Because equally as many people want to be near home as the ones who don’t. They can’t win and not all employees care

That’s why we should give new trainees some agency in where they go. Just a thought. The new way of doing it is the exception, not the rule.
Then you will have issues between people who want to move to a location and people who already live there. They could make some changes (which they should) but there will absolutely be unhappy people no matter what.

They could mandate that you will be sent to the closest facility with a vacancy to your home address on your license or something.

I’d love to read all those bitch threads lol.

This is a joke right? Lol
I guess they’re not doing it the same as they were a few years back when you got twenty+ choices to pick from, but our list had double the amount of people that passed. I do realize that isn’t how it’s done right now though or for en route though, so I’m happy to take the L on my opinion there.

Just let you select in the application where you want to be considered too. At a minimum western central and eastern us. You can still have an option for ALL US

i don’t think everyone is going to get to go exactly where they’re ant but every person that can get to where they’re ant to be long term will be one less person that’s immediately trying to transfer.
