It might be region specific but I can tell you in western pacific and mountain that statement is/was absoutely false. Many attempts to give over 18 months were made and natca made every single one come back down. No one was getting 2 years or higher
Again. Not true. That was later on. You must have no more than 8 years in this job or unaware of how the system actually did work.

Ur full of shit. I got out of a center to another center with a 2 year release date under the old system. This system is EXACTLY like the old system. Under the old system You kiss the managers ass and unions ass until they cut you a tol. Under this system u kiss the managers ass and unions ass and then they rank who kissed the best ass on their sheet for selection. 2-5 years wait under old system. 2-5 year wait under new system. It’s just a professional good ol boy system now

You're wrong on that last part

Some can't ever leave under the new system. You could under the old one. They won't even do management deviations anymore unless it's straight into the management ranks at my fac

Uh, I transferred out of Western Pacific with a 2 year date so you can fuck right off with that.

Wasn't 4 years though so that other guy can fuck right off too

I'm not full of shit. But I'll attempt to make myself more clear since you just glossed over what I said (not surprising since you are a center "controller" so I won't hold that against you).

It doesn't matter who kissed ass to get released. When it came down for your current facility to release you, managers were not bound to any time limit. Not even 2 years. Some facilities (my old one included) abused this by giving 4 year release dates since they technically couldn't deny your release. This caused receiving facilities to either eat the 4 year release or say nevermind and pass on you (which happened way more often).

Go get your shinebox, kiddo.
I guess I must of kissed the right ass years ago. Bc if you went to the manager and the union and specifically asked for a TOL then your facility couldn’t hold you for 4 years like you say. They HAD to release you within two years. That was the key…..the TOL.

You're skipping over the part where you don't get a TOL at all because your ATM says your release date is 2 years and now the facility doesn't want you.

Apparently they offered the 13 that were skipped the facilities they were passed on for.
I would argue that anyone they passed over while there was a slot to release is entitled now, not just the first skips. 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. they decided the rules didn’t apply, making it right doesn’t change the fact that they passed over more than 13 people with slots to release.

I would be interested to hear first hand knowledge on this as someone who was passed over when our facility was able to release and receiving facility was eligible to gain (multiple panels in the past). Glad for other people but irritated for my own situation.

"PeOpLe UsEd To GeT FoUr YeAr ReLeAsE DaTeS!!!"

Well here I am six years in with no end in sight so f**k off with the "old system was worse" BS. All anyone can ever give is anecdotes about somebody who waited four or five years one time and they completely ignore the fact that for a lot of facilities in the NAS transfers are now and always will be impossible.

It’s funny too because I started just before NCEPT, and the ATM and Facrep asked on my first day where I wanted to end up, because they were a training facility, and it was expected you’d get trained up and bid out. There were 7-8 controllers with release dates on the day I got there. They then decided our staffing number was 7 controllers higher than the facility had ever run with and under NCEPT there have been 2 releases, all with several years between each. Tell me again how it’s working better

It's ridiculous, frankly. Most are better off getting a bachelor's degree online and pursuing a career change. I know others at my facility who are about to bail for the airlines because getting all your ratings and building hours has become a more timely way of getting unstuck than NCEPT. We should start a thread to help people exploring other options.

I really enjoyed all of those forced nature walks in the Marines, now that you mention it

You know what you signed up for. If you don't like it then quit. There's 57,000 applicants from the last bid most likely with more talent than you that would be more than happy to take your place.
