3rd Quarter 2017

July 8th 2018? Talked to my ATM Monday he said late August September for me, not sure he he has talked to ATM at ZTL yet.

On a side note, where are y'all going to live? I have a 4 month old so schools will be big part of decision.

I've got a six month old! I've heard no go on Griffin. I've got an FLM here that just come from ZTL. My wife and I are leaving on McDonough, or Peach tree. TBH, Hampton is small doesn't look bad.

Also, ZTL isn't giving out their maps early. I already tried, and the training SOP isn't kn the repository.
If they didn't give you a reason it's because we won't know what area we're assigned until we start training. They used to assign you an area and gave out the corresponding maps and training guides, but too many times needs would change and they'd be assigned a different area when they arrived. That'd be a brutal blow after memorizing every fix, airway, freq, etc to be told to just data dump it and start over on a new area.

Oh yah, the FacRep told me they make area assignments as of game day decisions. Something else interesting was the ATM mentioned not giving out training materials bc it would give you an "edge" over another trainee. I guess it isn't considered fair if it comes down to a TRB in the future. Also, he mentioned the environment ever-changing.

Edge argument is the dumbest fucking thing I ever heard and would imply the decision makers there have the wrong mindset. Successful training should be a shared motive. Let the trainee start working towards their goal if they are so inclined.
The changing environment argument makes sense though. Area staffing needs should be top priority. However that shit should be forecasted atleast a little ahead of time. Youd think you should be able to get maps and info a month or so ahead of time.

Granted we're a tower only, but I go out of my way to find the people coming and give them any and all the information I have at my disposal. I can't force them to study it, but I want them to hit the ground running.

Can't say I agree with the edge argument, just what he told me. The only correlation I could make was if I went to a TRB and you didn't, but you got the maps beforehand, I could just claim I didn't get them. Even if I was an extremely lazy asshole, I'd have an "out" so-to-speak.

Lol, my swap wasn't approved or denied. Because one of the management didn't forward the letters!
So, I looked into this more. Management told my Union rep "The only thing I was told was that all of our paper work was filed and since we were both "RED" facilities they are not even considered." I call BS, the other facility isn't even RED, anyone have any insight. I know it would of been denied because my facility is RED but that's really not the point here. I feel that Management either forgot to send them up the chain, or is trying to prevent my swap, or just being dbags (typical)

One swap was not posted because one person in the swap got picked up on an ERR, any chance that was yours?

And just to be clear the other facility was Cat 1 or Cat II?
None, does that matter in a swap? It's a Green facility with 80.5, so below the average but still in Green. My facility is red so it wouldn't of gotten approved, that doesn't mean it just doesn't show up on the selection list. The last one had five denials because one or both are red. My denial showed up in March ncept minutes, why not now? I'm trying to find out if my manager just didn't send it in, it's not their call if it gets denied. He's authoritative and it be good to have more dirt on them.

We will be Green next ncept, so I shouldn't care. But I do because I feel like they just didn't submit it to ncept to begin with.

They changed the definitions to Green (Cat I or Cat II) or Red (none) in the May update to the ERR MOU and SOP. They did, however, continue to use the old color association as swaps were given out of MSP which was not Cat I or Cat II. Best guess is your management dropped the ball at some point and is simply trying to say something to appease you since it would've been denied.

Thanks for the input, it's helpful. The other facility Union prez is going to look into it too. They want this swap to happen as much as I do heh. My facility will be Green next panel anyways, we have 7 trainees that will make it or wash by September. 6 should for sure check out.

If any of you come to visit ZTL, I'll meet up with you if I'm off and show you around the area or at least meet up for dinner. Just let me know.
I'd love to visit ZTL and A80, thought about FDT ride down for it. Since we are both hubs for DAL it be pretty easy, I just don't want to shave my beard. You work with a guy I served with in the AF.
