Definitely not. They are both good people but it isn't right the new guy gets ranked high when he wasn't even a cic or ojti yet. At least the other one has given back to the facility in his time here.

Welcome to the real world when it's all about networking. I knew someone that was mad he got passed over multiple times. Come to find out he never once toured or contacted anyone at the facility. He was just a name that no one knew. He finally toured the facility after someone said something and he got picked up the next bid.

It shouldn't be that way.

Do we know the same guy?

Yeah it sucks, especially when a brand new cpc bids a place they have no business going to. But at the end of the day, neither of you got selected for that exrtemely competitive facility but you still got selected for a place you put in for. Ironically, if the same one that got picked for COS is the same one that got ranked number 6, he would've been selected for DFW had he not had paperwork in for COS. I'd say there are a two things that are almost equally as important as networking when it comes to getting selected on ncept: 1) Knowing/understanding the rules and selection order/process and 2) Knowing which facilities your coworkers have paperwork into. If you understand those two, you can greatly increase your chance of selection, especially if you're flexible in where you want to go.

Why not? Why does having been there the longest mean you should get to leave first? If you want to transfer put in some effort. Nothing in life is a handout. If you want something you've got to actually put in some work.
It's crazy that we are all about seniority for everything except transferring. Time in the agency, time as a certified controller, time as a cic and ojti should matter and weigh toward getting picked up. Someone with less than a year at a level 5 should get picked up before people with more experience at the same facility or even above others who come from higher level facilities? We used to have a rating sheet that counted all that stuff before ncept was ever a thing.

Neither of the guys got picked up yet and are going to be trying to get out in future panels still. It's not anyone who has been released already.

No one is asking you to buy steaks for the entire facility. You have to understand from the perspective of the ATM and the facrep. They are trying to staff their facility.

If they have twenty people they met and you didn't even make a phone call, you should expect to be ranked 21st or worse. For all they know, you just want to use their facility as a stepping stone. It's all too common these days for people to withdraw from training so they can get a NEST list.

I'm not saying there isn't people ranked high because of connections, but their first motive is to staff their facility. If they don't know you AT ALL, why would they rank you above people that they know want to come there and stay.

Maybe #21 is a shit person or a shit controller.
Thank God we have people like you and all the atm's to make that call for us. They're so talented, run such great facilities, definitely didn't get into management because they're terrified of traffic, right? Surely they only pick the best people and don't play favorites

Maybe mangers should base their decisions on hours a CPC has put into position for rankings. Seeing lazy controllers who sit in the back all day get picked up is infuriating….

You could quit and find another job
You could stop deep throating the FAA in general

It’s worth noting that the patco transfer process was seniority based, seniority was the only factor that mattered. I have the old contract Somewhere

Our very own slate book had the requirement to be CPC for a year before you could submit an ERR packet. NCEPT did away with that.

If you’re not willing to sell yourself, then that shows little to no effort on your part. Why would they think you’ll put in effort once you get there when you won’t even put in effort to get there in the first place? You absolutely have to do your best to sell yourself. You can get creative- it doesn’t have to be in person. It’s like saying in any other job interview situation “gosh, they want to meet me and interview me before offering me a position. That’s ridiculous!” See what I’m saying?

Don’t they have an option to say someone doesn’t have sufficient experience?
Yes. They can make comments with such. They’ll be ranked in the bottom, but still “ranked.”
