May (Q3) 2023

What exactly do you think this system is. Same shit. You go kiss the managers ass and the union presidents ass and hope you kissed it good enough they rank you higher than other applicants.
Funny, in the May panel our Rep put his ranking in (the ATM just goes with the Reps ranking) and we literally got our last pick which was like 15th or something like that... We've actually not picked up a single person in our top 5 ranking since before COVID.

The old system was terrible, I have multiple friends who were trapped at their facility because of an idiotic ATM only allowing a multi year release date and then NCEPT comes around and literally every single one of them was picked up on the first panel and gone in 3 months. NCEPT has its cons 100% but the old system was just not it. But, NCEPT can't really work if we don't have staffing that allows facilities to get their numbers up. I've said it so many times before, the problem with NCEPT is the failure to hire controllers and give us actual bodies to work with. ANY transfer program will fail with today's staffing as all we're doing is shifting around bodies in a system that is staffed at less than 75% (using CRWG numbers as it should be) but making zero progress in increasing that %.

Multi-year release date would be a godsend for people at certain facilities now. Also "multi-year" was never more than 2. Never more than 1 1/2 in western pacific or NATCA could and did shut down every ATM who tried. The old system was better for people at the real black holes. I've never seen a compelling argument on this site that says otherwise.

Nobody said we had to go back to the old system. But this is the old system when having to kiss ass. It’s still a good ol boy system. I know that bc we have placed people high in our list bc of word of mouth and ass kissing. Not bc of your controlling ability. And if that’s the way it’s gonna be just let the managers select who they want alongside the union rep. Fuck the panel. If ncept can’t work bc of staffing then it will NEVER WORK. Stop acting like the faa is going to staff facilities correctly. It has NEVER been done in the history of the agency. And it isn’t going to start now bc you “keep saying it over and over”. And it sure isn’t gonna happen bc a bunch of fucking union yuppies hanging out circle jerking in Hawaii thinks so.

Also. The old system was fucked at times bc the managers called other managers “out of respect” . This led to managers trying to say “we can’t release for three years”. Most managers that really wanted someone just cut a tol….forcing the other manager to come up with a release date. The receiving manager never HAD to call and ask for the employee ……they could always just cut the tol if they wanted

Sounds like I must live in paradise then cause I've seen the rankings we've sent off for the last couple years and not a single person who visited ended up first in our rankings. Our rep ranks on where you're coming from and experience (high level facilities and others in surrounding facilities are always our top picks no matter what). Coming to visit will probably get you above someone else that's around the same level as you since we actually know who you are so if you want to move up to 8th choice instead of 9th then feel free to visit. And I never said the FAA would staff the facilities correctly, as you said they don't have a great history of that. But my point still stands, no transfer program will ever work UNTIL we get staffed.

This is fake, no one got their 15th choice on the first pass. One of the pros to that format was almost everyone picked in the first round was top 5.

The old system depended on your facilities ATM and the selecting facility. Back door communication within the district and the answer was a flat out no and you never heard about it until you run into now retired ATM sayin “hey did you ever make it back home we tried picking you up for years.” Meanwhile out of district ATMs would force the release by cutting a TOL.

Not fake, confirmed again with the rep so don’t know what to tell you.
I'll join in on calling bullshit. Maybe you did get your 15th ranked person and it worked that way because of the way the rules were set up this last panel but that means they weren't the only selection you got this panel. Also if they haven't picked up anyone inside the top 5 since covid but the manager ranking list is 15 people deep, it means you're at a desirable, but insignificant place in the nas that isn't high on the facility priority list. There's also the good chance your rep just exaggerated or was betrayed by the ATM changing the rankings and not telling him. Guess we'll know for sure when the rankings actually come out

I did a foia close to the beginning of the month and called the rep assigned to it on Thursday to check the status and was sent straight to voicemail and never got a call back so hopefully I’ll have it soon and I’ll just request it right after the results come out from here on out.

CID (level 5) is above 20 of the 25 level 12's in the NAS when it comes to NCEPT priority (who knows how that is determined btw, we would love to know). But yet, my facility is definitely insignificant to CID, 100%! I was shown the list that was sent off but you guys can keep saying I'm full of BS all you want. I have no idea how we end up with our low picks, but we did. Doesn't matter though because high or low, some trainees will check out, some will wash. The revolving door of 6 day work weeks isn't ending anytime soon, even if we got our top picks.

Apparently they’ve [CID] only managed to get two academy grads and a hardship from Fairbanks tower.

Tell us your facility.

This is fake news. Can't wait to see the FOIA to confirm that you've been sold a bag of goods (and are trying to re-sell it!).
